revkev,

Do you still need measurements?

Later,
Tim

tim, yup still in need. I found some rough measurements of bore and stroke online but thats it. It just gave me something to go by. I was a little disapointed in the emachine software's 3d abilities. It severly limits what you can do with it. I was unable to make more than one hole in the OD of the crankcase. and a few other oddities like I couldn't figure out how to make a crankshaft with counterweights. I don't know why I'm bothering really, I think I have a floating seat of solidedge kicking around here at work. plus all of the machines handy to pop these out like candy. nothing like working in an aerospace machine shop.

what I had drawn up so far was a basic radial crankcase that could be made to fit any variety of cylinders 3,5,7 or 9. it included a ballbearing snout support and back cover, the back cover included the gear driven supercharger housing. this setup would give an overdrive of up to 2.44:1 over crankshaft speed using the rc car gears. nylon or aluminum gears may also be usable as it is only turning the impeller. a single draw through carb would be attached to the intake of the SC. the layout looks kind of similar to a supercharged radial from the 30's.

Well, it seems I'm not the first one to have this idea at all! I found a picture and short description from the www.modelenginenews.org website. a gentleman from germany by the name of Siegfried Fleischmann designed almost the exact same setup I was looking at. here is what MEN had to say:

The last photographs show Siegfried's Cox-based two-stroke radials. The engines use Cox .049 cylinders and pistons, except for the piston carrying the master-rod. Crankcase charging is provided by an Italian Fiamm centrifugal blower (electric) intended for air-horns. On one engine this is modifed to be driven by the crankshaft. Siegfried reports that it developes a gas pressure of about 0.4 bar. The Webra carb provides a speed range between 2,000 and 10,000 rpm and the engine is wonderfully loud.

I wasn't sure where to put this at first and I didn't think it needed its own threadBut check out this pic I ran across! This just looks so perfect for a quad Cox!
Does anyone know this plane?
