That's exactly what I did. Go to youtube.com and do a search for 'Deans Soldering'. There are several very informative videos that show how to do it properly. This had been my first time soldering also but I tackled the task like a champ and only messed up once. The negative connector on one of my females got so hot that it melted the plastic around it and it got a little out of place which made it very hard to connect to a male. I chucked that one and replaced. Overall, I think I did a good job and so far haven't had any come loose...and yes, I pull them apart by the wires >.< Good luck on your project and please, don't burn yourself. -B
