Hello, I'm wanting to upgrade my the motor and speed control on my Duratrax evader and from my research I need to upgrade my rear-end and clutch as well. Please help. As far as the components over heating problems you will won't to keep the body on the truck or car due to direct UV rays and the lack of air flow. You will have more cooling by cutting a entry way in the front of the body and cut out a exit as well.  ALSO PUT THE COIL ATTACHMENTS ON WHEREVER POSSIBLE TO HELP CATCH THE NEW AIR.

Sincerely,

Scott

you can run the nitro cvd's but personally i have more luck
with the standard universal dogbones. what happened did the pin snap?
them beefy cvds pictured are for the ext and you would need
a whole different rear end.the nitro st cvds are great, what motor
are you running?

Yea, the pin snapped while I was running on blacktop road. I am running the Orion Havok mod 15t. So you are saying go with the nitro st's then? whats best on not snapping them?

well i was running brushless and it was wearing them out quick.
(the nitro cvds that is) and once there worn they break. the dogbone
unishafts, the pin breaks i upgrade the pin with a nail or similar
and cover the joint in heatshrink. i do maintanence regularly but
i found thats the best way for me.

sorry to waffle on.the nitro cvds are better really, especially with that
motor, they should last for ages. they are expensive though.
why not repair the ones you have? did you lose some bits?

Didnt even think of using a nail or something else. Will see if that does the trick since you are right they are a little on the expensive side. Thanks for the tip.

If I had say $100.00 what motor and or esc would you recommend? Keep in mind my current esc is an intellispeed 12t? I would love to get some more speed out of my girl.

Well i'm trying out the HobbyWing EzRun combo was 94.00 shipped, on ebay..5.5 turn motor 6000kv,  60 amp esc 380amp burst.. and program card..Have heard they go pretty good. And they handle 3s 11.1 volt.. I'll let you know what i think..

I was also wondering if anyone uses a motor spacer or anything..I cut an old motor plate and added it to mine cause the motor was so far to the right my pinion had to touch the motor to ride the spur right..

why the cap in between the batt and ESC???
my evader, not best vid, as you'll see BALD tires they were marginally better, most of the footage is with my ep 4200's tho the opening scene is on the lipo, it did the lenght of the parking lot in about 5.5 seconds it was 60 meters long, making it, about 25mph AVERAGE speed this was a slow accel, and really bad tires, the opening scene was the last one shot, cuz even tho you can't see it in the vid, lets just say it didn't stop quite fast enuf and got a little air at 35 or so
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixwsxYEW4hg

the setting of 7/8 of a turn back from locked worked really well for me on pavement

t-front and monsterbombs same Q for ya both, what tires you guys running????????

my tyres look bald in the pic i posted but
they are anaconda tyres, traxxas. they are
good for pavement and thats about it. i do
alot of grass oval running and too much rubber
and grip can be bad especially for speed runs.
the anacondas do ok for the ovals when its dry.
i have gladiators lying around, they balloon too
much for me with brushless. i dont have a bad
thing to say about proline dirthawgs, there
on my buggy and have been for ages. hook
up great on mort surfaces.

on a side note i took my truck out for a haul at my
old bosses place, showing off doing wheelies and burnouts
on grass and pavement, anyway somethings slipping.
i know the slipper was reefed on tight aswel as the diff.
should be interesting to get it apart and see what the damage
is. i havnt melted a diff in ages. i hope thats the problem.
i have 2 associated b2 gears sitting here, just procrastinating.
maybe the velineon on 3s is too much on the old girl.

I run 4 sets in the rear..3 up front..For general bashing i use proline Moab's all the way around..They're big tires ,but they get traction on any surface..for on road i run my stock duratrax fronts "pretty bald now"and losi step pins in the rear with the first pin gone..At the track i run new losi step pins on the rear and proline the edge up front..And i also have some proline dirt paws i throw on the rear for real aggressive off road bashing..

Capacitors discharge faster than batteries..So it always helps to have a cap..Most esc's do, just cheap ones don't or they're really small..B4 the cap with my 19 T single the esc would pause b4 take off ,after cap no pause..The esc is only rated down to 20 T so i added thicker wire and the cap.... And it seems to help at the end of a battery still get the same punch at take off instead of gradually lessening..

yeah i hear you about the moabs i have badlands out back and want to get a set for up front or get some 30's and run those out back and put the regs up front or just go all 30's i'll prob wait till these wear down tho, they have been known to rip up grass many a time,

okay my next Q on the cap, what are the specs? i may run one on my brushed setup, i know the charge and discharge way faster, i'd be interested to see the 4 2.5V like 100farad caps wired in series to a voltage reg, hooked up to an rc car, i think they'd provide some major rip, tho the issue is getting them to hold enuf, 20F can run my venom 19t for 40 seconds wired strait up, soo yeah i'd love to get those caps hooked up

The cap i'm using is 16V 2200 uf..the Voltage of the cap doesn't matter as long as it's higher than the volts you're pumping to it..my batt full charge 8.58 volts so the cap charges to 8.58 ..can use a 60V if you want..Will only charge up to what ever the batter voltage is ..the uf  decides how much capacity it actually hold so the higher the better i say..lol

wow i totally missed like 10-15 posts, boy do i feel dumb, for a motor i'd go with a high end 12t, maybe like a reedy flash mod, or something checkpoint, 12 will be good tho if you want Bl for $100 you could go the ez run, i'd try for the 8.5t motor

for off road tires I suggest the proline gladiators, great on asphalt and dirt, have them for about 2yrs and with the mamba max combo5700kv for about 5 months
they offer great grip and are very durable...

The EZ Run Brushless comes with an ESC. The 12 turn motors should be fine with your existing ESC.

Thank you! Thankyouverymuch!!!

We were out this morning at 9:00 am. The temp on the dirt was 100 degrees even though the air temperature was 85. By 10:30 the track was 110. Three Evaders racing enduro with dust and sweat and good times. Where is that delta breeze?
