your diff should be pretty smooth, to turn if you take it out of the tranny so you just have this in your hand you should be able to turn the 2 outdrives smoothly if they don't turn smoothly take it apart and inspect for dammaged/worn out of place parts, if it does and its just difficult to turn you either need less grease or a thinner oil in it,
the st can have a smoother diff, but imo ball diffs can be such a PITA... and you can't run the ball diff unless you get the ST cases and idler gear with apropreate bearings... and driveshafts

Ok, I took it all apart and decided to tear it all down.  The grease was awful. I cleaned with crc brake cleaner and just used regular grease (this time) because I couldnt see any broke/worn parts, I lubed the other gears/bushings with the ofna 3000wt and everything is smoother now. I just got done assembling everything back together and hope to give it a whirl in the moring. at least the wheels will move freely.

I was thinking of just ordering a complete rear end to just have around and putting the synthetic lube in it? Not that expensive for everything.

Lug I appreciate all the help once again.

Mike

I am thinking it cant hurt, Thats the set I ordered last night and hope to have for next weekend.

I have run it this morning and it is alot smoother. Like you I do believe bearings will help the whole truck.

Hey there is a local guy wanting out. wants to trade a rustler xl5 6 batteries and a brushless set up for my Wii. If all works out you know anybody might be interested in a rustler roller?

i'd say go for it if you don't want your wii, tho it seems like he's getting a pretty good deal unless its some good batts and the rusty has the metal in the tranny

hey man so my buddy just got the duratrax evader truck and had it for a day and ran it for about 30-45 min and then a few hours ran it again and the solder came off the wire connecting from the engine. we are in iraq and needed somethin to do so we ordered rc cars for the track they have built out here. it was only about 90' out when he was racin the car. is it th heat? or a fault from the truck? should he contact duratrax or tower hobbies where he got it?  thanks

I would call duratrax or just fix the wire. Make sure you check your slipper clutch and gear mesh. I had some issues with mine because of those 2 things. If the solder melted you might have something spooky going on though. just my 2 cents (worthless).

Well I dont play my wii that much and I would like to have the esc, motor and radio out of his truck. The brushless system sounds pretty nice though. All of those items would be a upgrade from my evader's.

i'd talk to duratrax it was probally a faulty solder job, and has happened to me on my venom motor (but i think that may've been ripped off via cartwheel) it was the fault of the truck, even 100deg hotter it shouldn't be an issue sodler doesn't melt till around 800 so i'd say poor job from the factory...

but yeah it'd be quicker just to solder it up and forget about it

Well i'm thinking of getting a pair of 7 cells, and at cheapbatterypacks.com I can get a 8.4v 5000mah for 50$ but before buying I have a question;
Has anyone had any experience with the Elite 5000 SC cells?
they are the ones i'm planning to get, but the price seems too good to be true...

I might just stick with duratrax cells instead...

Thanks

Ok guys, eventually, I'll be the owner of an Evader. I just won this for $17 and I may race it in the stock oval class. I think this was an evader st maybe? Anyway, it needs work so I'll be busy

yup thats the st with a few upgraded graphite parts

yes for the gear diff, but you need either the EXT cvd's or bones and cups and you'll need to get a bearing or bushing setup that equals out to 10X18X4 MM or get the ext tranny case and idler and motor plate

I'm not sure. If you look on RPM web site they have a wheel that looks just like the one on Tower but it is for Losi brand, any Losi 2.2 wheel should work with a Evader I'm just not sure about Associated wheel.

if they work on the evader they'll work on the ext but they will be a little tight, but they'll work great

i got my parts in tho tower screwed up my order and gave me new blue anno'd front al knuckles for the bx instead of my motor plate and i forgot to order some tranny screws but i'll get those at the hardware store tommorow just be easier, tho we'll see when i call them maybe they can just throw it on the order i need some small parts for my chaos that tower has (its a trinity part)

I thought the rc10 used pin style on their axles also.

Oh lug, I traded for that rustler and here is what I got.

Rustler xl5 ( with new front and rear shocks control arms and knuckles). Body is junk though.
2 12 turn titan motors 1 new
2 xl5 esc 1 new
6 batteries all duratrax brand 3000 (4) 2500 (2)
1 am radio and
1 ez run brushless motor and esc
$100.00 beans to boot.

I am pretty happy with the stuff. I tried the titan motor and xl5 speed controller. I really like the radio and esc in the vader. Not to crazy about the titan motor though. But with xl5 esc runtimes and motor temps are better I believe though.
