That is a very nice looking twin conversion. It should be a great performer with decent landing characteristics.

If I can get the scanner working I will try to post a picture of a very similar outline ship that I built in the early seventies using K&B 40s.

I love it, the US is my all time fav. sport flier. I have 1 US1000 in the closet I need to build
and one US1000 in the garage in pieces from a crash that I need to repair.

Was this off of plans or did you do it yourself? Please let me know!

Yury,

That looks great! I'm waiting for Spring weather to fly my first twin, a Hobbico TwinStar with Super Tigre .34 Heli engines. I'm planning to build a SPAD Twin DPS before flying season gets here, too. It will be powered by Magnum .52 four-strokes.

Good luck with your new airplane,
desmobob

Very cool, did you use the original US40 kit and modify it or did you scratch build it? I am very
interested in twins and love the US kits. Thank you!

For building twin I used only drawing from original kit.
I have US40 with OS70 in front from kit.

This weekend I had three flies on this plane. The sound was very impressive. On last approach the right engine quitted when I had tried to apply some throttle from idle. The plane started to turn to the right slowly. The throttle was brought to idle and plane landed safety.
Here some photos were made before the first take off.

Hi Yury,
Welcome to twinsanity. I did the same conversion on the US 1000 and loved it. These are great planes to kit bash.
Keep up the good work.

Can you tell us what modifications you made to the original plane for others reference and Ideas?
On my US 1000, I flew it with the original control surfaces and was not pleased with resonse due to increased weight, Increased the ailerons 25%, rudder almost 50% to Ultimate style, and added wing plates or dams for increased lift.....an YES BILL, I "Slightly" increased the nose size and shape!!

Thanks a lot for your post.
I made such modification than I scratch built the plane.
The fin and rudder were increased near 50%. The fin, rudder, stab and elevator were made from strips.
Fus was built with out plywood almost. It has plywood around wing sable only. The fus was built with out solid pieces of balsa wood. ¼ balsa its the thickest balsa on fus.
The wing was built according draft. I added nacelles only and installed two aileron's servos. The ailerons have building structure.
To keep point of balance the elevator and rudder servos were moved to the tail.
In result the weight of twin is the same as kit building US40 with OS70 in front.
