Has anyone tried the new Q40 props from APC yet? I don't know if they're even available yet but was just curious. I'd be interested to know how they are performing on both the Nelson and Jett motors.

They are all available from APC. The 7.4 x 8.1 is funky looking.

I was wondering the same thing John. Hope to get some dirt before the Phoenix race in a few weeks. Weather is not really cooperating up here to do much flying. Also wondering when the V-2 props are no longer going to be legal since they are no longer available??

Haven't heard anything on that one.

They are all available. Here is what I know. At the Tangerine last December, Mr. McDerrmot ran the 8.1 (the funky looking one) and he said it was turning 23K, he looked pretty good with it... spoke with Travis yesterday he said he finally flew it, and couldn't get more than 22K, and it was pretty bad in the air. He did not like it!!

I tried the 7.8 pitched prop and turned it about 23K and I thought it unloaded great.

V-2... My guess would be it's not legal, it's no longer in production.

That's all I got...

Randy, I was thinking about using the 7.8 on my backup...I'm trying to get a little more out of it without going to wood... Did it turn up better than the 8.0 or was it about the same... It's just a back up that I hopefully won't need

I would say that the 7.8 prop is not for a back up motor, better run that prop on something strong and "fresh". The version 3 (8.0) would be on the backup, it turns more. The motor I ran in Houston (straight from Shadel) turned the V3 about 24,3... so without a bunch of testing I'd say the 7.8 is about a 1K down from the V3 8.0.

Thanks for the info... I guess depending on how it goes down in Phoenix I"ll have to go wood.

There's nothing on the Phx. Race flyer about props,,, I'd say the V-2 is still legal(?)

Does it have to be announced on the flyer? Or can Jim Allen make an announcement during the pilots meeting?

According to the way the rule is stated, they shouldn't be legal.

Its a shame though with so many of them still out there. I know I have at least 10 of them.
