I went to use my Optic 6 today and found that the elevator stick was stiff and sluggish.

If you pull it to the extreme and release it, the stick *slowly* returns to center. The rudder and aileron movements are fine -- so free that the stick will actually bounce back and forth around neutral a few times when released.

On inspection, it appears as if the lube inside the pot shaft has polymerized for some reason. I've tried flushing it with contact-cleaner and that has reduced the problem a little -- but a thixotropic form of lube still remains in the pot shaft -- so that if you work the stick back and forth a little it frees up -- but then, within a few seconds, it thickens again and the stick becomes "sticky" :-)

I've seen this before with pots, where the lube polymerizes and effectively rolls into small "plastic" balls around the pot-shaft. Rapid movement of the shaft compresses the balls and the shaft rotates freely -- until allowed to rest, whereupon the balls expand again and make the shaft hard to turn.

I've already priced the freight to send this transmitter back to the USA (I bought it from Servo City a little over a year ago) and the price comes to more than half that of a new transmitter!

How do I go about ordering a replacement pot?

I'd probably need details of the recalibration procedure as well -- I know this is a function of the firmware but am unaware of the exact button-presses and procedures involved.

I'm a fully qualified electronics engineer with a background in RF, telemetry and digital systems who's prepared to take full responsibility for the outcomes of such a repair.

And before you suggest it -- taking it to the local service agent would (again) cost more than half the price of a new transmitter -- not really an option when it's a $1 part that's faulty.

I've got a scale meeting coming up in 2 weeks so I need to get some practice in ASAP :-)

It's fixed. I removed the pot and soaked it overnight in some contact cleaner, then gave it some vigorous twisting before re-lubing it and reassembling.
