Got mine yesterday. Sad news is it will stay in the box for a significant period of time while I move and try to find place to build and store this plane. I don't even plan to open the box so I won't know what I'm missing. Have to sell much of what I have in the interim and pull the DA 50 off the current airframe. That plane will be sold before or at Joe Nall.

Got mine today. Fuselage crushed by UPS. Kit is double-boxed. Strictly bad handling by UPS.

I'm shure there will be more bad storys of UPS damaging airplanes. Thats why you should allways open it up rightaway and check it out. I wonder if Aero-works will have any spare parts on hand for this first batch of Yaks?

Hey SpecMan, sorry about the crushed fuselage. I hope mine fairs better. Mine is schedule to arrive on April 5, 06. We'll need to get together to compare to plans. I hope to have mine in the air next week.

Mark, you guys should really consider Fedex. I worked for UPS as a loader and, well, lets just say that nothing is safe with them unless your box it strong enough for a 200 pound man to walk all over when he has to go break up a jam on the belts (the belts don't stop there unless there is someone hurt or there is a fire on the belt - which has happened from the intense friction of all the boxes being pressed against each other as they jam up, and most jams are freed with a swift kick against the boxes with a steel-toed boot!), or to get it to survive a 20 foot fall, to say the least.
I don't have employee experience with Fedex, but I have never received a heavily damaged item from them.

Received my Yak today, what a suprise wasn't expecting untill next week. UPS treated my package great, hardly a mark on the box. Perfect shape, I do agree with bodywerks although, FedEx is much better with large packages.

We used Fed-Ex for a while and actually had more problems same thing with DHL. Sadly out of the three major companies UPS is the safest

Total weight of arf minus wings

8#12oz this is with the aluminum gear tubes and no lighting of any thing, all nuts bolts grafix included

Wings weighed 1#7.7 oz and 1#7.5oz

There is a lot of weight that can be dropped from the aluminum at least 10 oz total and there is 2 to 4 oz that can be dropped from the canopy removing excess flooring

Landing gear alone is 14.2oz

Fuse without canopy is 2#8oz pounds
Canopy is 1#2oz pounds
Cowl is 12.3oz

Wing span over 85"
Length 75ish inches
