hi guys,
i'm moving on to parts of the plane a little out of order while waiting for my foam to bag and right now i need to know if the ply floor for the canopy stays the exact width of the bass stringers on top of fuse? ...seems like it should so canopy overhangs and lines up w/ fuse sheeting,
also did you guys use 1/4 balsa at the front and rear of the front piece of foam for the canopy? the plans show 1/4cap at the back where the canopy will attach but the front shows 3/32 (i think). i'm wondering if 3/32 sheeting will be strong enough to hold down canopy dowels that get slide into cowl ring,
thanks
steve

I used the 1/4 inch balsa where the canopy glues on and the 3/32 at the front because I opted to go without the dowels into the cowl ring. Instead I opted to use 8 4/40 bolts to hold the canopy on. 3 contests, plenty of 3d flights, cowl blow off(my fault) and still to this day the canopy has not budged one bit. If you do go the route of dowels I believe that ther is a round piece of hardwood that goes on the back side for some support. You may even want to ask John about this if you are not sure.

Mike

i didn't use the dowels either, instead i used 6x 4-40 bolts to hold on the canopy.

john,
the yak is painted and covered but needs the graphics, will definitely post some pics when it's done. i'm just having trouble getting down to bryan at aerographix.
