Which ARF has the fabric covering and at least 80-88" wingspan. I'm thinking of kitbashing a cub, spraying olive paint over the yellow of a cub. I know too that there is some rear window work to do.

Any thoughts?

I've been looking back in my archives and cant seem to find the OD cub that was listed as L-4 but without the green house. I would like to do one of those. But for now, I'm gonna just put some floats on mine.

There were some Cubs that were just quickly painted in the drab paint scheme, I ran into some in a full scale search last summer. I'm just getting around to redreaming this !!! There were Taylors too, I think L-2 designation but it's real fuzzy at the moment.

I like the idea of the L-4 with or without the greenhouse and I bet some of them ended up on floats and or skies as well ( great for around here in New England if so).

I need to look to Great Planes now and see about power etc... I'm thinking off the top of my head , maybe Saito 65 without knowing what the spec sheet is on the Great Planes Cub.

Thanks for the reply,
David

Dont forget the Aeronca Champ, L-3 Grasshopper. You dont have to do a cub, although I dont beleive there is an Aeronca ARF out there. Just wanted to put that in there......now I will go hide in my hole again...........

Edit; Here is a picture of my Bud Nosen 102" Aeronca Champ in the (not real scale) L-3 Grasshopper.

I didn't know the L-3 was an Aeronca ( or Air Knocker as they call them around here). I like yours by the way ! I guess a twin cylinder would make sense in one that large ?

Well, I don't need another full kit for now though, I'd like an ARF and the T-6 is taking up my building space anyway. An ARF I can assemble and go fly meanwhile. seems to me I saw a Taylor ARF someplace that could be bashed into an L-2, maybe.

I agree, an ARF would be easier to convert, just wanted to point out that there are other "Grasshoppers" out there. I beleive that there were three manufactures with the L-3 designation. Aeronca also had the L-16 Grasshopper during the Korean confilct. Thanks for the cudo's on my Grasshopper. I didnt build it, a club member gave it to me last summer before he passed away. He wanted to see it fly again. It really flys great.
