Heya, ChinookJockey! I can speak only concerning the Vario Benzins. Flying ease is a result of build selections and setup. For example, my Benzin ships are running 81cm blades, 910mm tail set, extended main shaft, 4-way CCPM, and a G230RC with a tuned pipe. My paddles are weighted and my curves are adjusted so that the birds "fly like a truck." Very docile, yet the G230RC's have plenty plenty plenty of power, so it's not really "sluggish." On the other hand, you can (I'm sure you're aware of this) configure a Benzin for aggressive 3D with different main drive gearing, blades, etc. I've found the quality of the Vario parts to be impressive and recommend them without reservation. However, parts supplies are sometimes a bit trying...my dealer told me that the factory had a flood or some such, and I waited for months for additional 805mm blades...finally had to go with another manufacturer's 810's. Also, I had problems (no mental giant, I) understanding their parts presentation...for example, the only way I found out they had two different lengths of main shafts was to note that I had received two different lengths. One of my CCPM ships showed up with a non-CCPM bottom plate. Another showed up with two different side plates (one had round holes, one had oval). These are anecdotal in the long run, of course. Also, parts on eBay are few and far between, save the Futaba, JR, and Zenoah components. I love eBay. Ahem. Good luck in the move to GAS!
