Okay thanks guys... I found some #8 plugs on my plane engines and I popped one of those into my savage and it seemed to help a lot. I think I will still go with some A5's because the heat will just keep getting hotter... but the 8's will have to do for a while... lol

texas,

as it warms up you will need to re tune your engin. HPI engines need retuning every time you fart into the wind. very hard to keep tuned. i like most any other nitro engines more than hpi. but that is just me.

so as it heats up your going to need to retune. i live in delware and i have retuned twice already on my stock savage x 4.6 and yes it still has the 4.6 big bock hpi engine in it.

take both the high and low needles to factory and do the retune just like they show you. check out the youtube how to tune your savage.

question what was the temp of the engine when it shut down. and when did it flame out at top speed or at idle? it makes a big differance. if your flaming out at top end it could be your to lean or to fat. post all the conditons and let me know. thanks.

I was reading the manual of the savage and it has the outside temp. and what plug to use with the temp outside. I was right you use a colder plug when the temp goes up. Plus i know how to tune my engine and I put in the colder plug yesterday and it worked fine. Thanks for the consern but I was just seeing if yall knew if the temp diagram was right or not. Turns out HPI tends to know what they are talking about in some areas. But just for your own pleasure it was "flaming" out at the low-end when it would return to its idle. I would keep trying to richen and the lean out and neither way I went would help. So then I tried new plugs and it seems to be working fine. Now I just need to find a good hump pack and charger for the hump pack. What would ya'll recomend for a good battery?

I blew up one of my dirtbones the other day when i flipped it over off of my ramp... i got frustrated and just held the throttle down... lol not a good idear lol... it was quite cool to watch the tires balloon up... but then it went "CAPOOOOWWWWW!!!" it was fun to watch but scared the crap out of me ... lol

Well.
after 7 months of leavin my truck in a corner not doin anything, i thought it'd be a good idea if the truck actually started..
Started er up, had some needle tweakin to do. MAN does that engine RIP!!
wheelies on command just friggen nuts.
started jumpin with it a bit and managed to break my fuel tank..not just a crack..a HOLE!!
funny thing is i don't even know what hit it!!

(ive outlined the cracks with black sharpie so you can see them)

Nice work! Your shock hit it. You probably landed hard on the back end which pushed the shock tower forward and pushed the shock into the tank. Been there, done that.
