Mine came in today...and it came with a midget driver ...I'm admiring it piece by piece. WAY easier to work on than the warhead. Got the roto start battery at radio shack...I must say that was an excellent tip.

I just bought my first truck. Savage X will be here tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully the weather up here in Canada will warm up!

Gotta hand it to you for ingenuity. Rolling that rear window down like that was pretty cool, literally.

Make sure you warn the driver about the bump drafting. If he hits that WarHead it could be behind the wall again. I was just down cellar tightening the screws on the "X" and decided the wheels and rubber that are on it are going on the WarHead and the Prolines are going on the SavageX. For those of you who haven't seen the wheels and tires I'm talking about here's the pic....

Started up my Savage X tonight for the first time. One thing I have to say is I love the rotostart. Way better than pulling that stupid cord a million times only to have it break. It is one more thing to charge and bring with you but it's pretty cool. Now I'll have to get the TigerDrive for the Warhead when it becomes available. The Savage sounded sweet. Just did two 2 minute runs for now, it was pretty dark out and my boy was dying to come outside and help daddy. Can't wait to get through the breakin on this baby. I'll have to go back and check my screws to be sure nothing has loosened up. I noticed it turns much easier than the Warhead does.

They look similar to the dirt bones on my MT2 SS. I love that tire. I just ordered a fresh set on EBAY 26.00 for four plus inserts.

I wouldnt upgrade the spur gear, just get the mesh right. Hell this thing is fun, as soon as the savage x SS is out it will be my second. Have now got delifered a sts .28 and when i get better at handling will install. Is it worth getting a hitec for the throttle brake servo too?

I don't know ash, I've never heard of doing that before the WarHead and never had to do it with any of my other trucks. You can see in my signature, I've got a few and I have some not stock engines too. I've never seen it in any other forums I've been in either, but that isn't saying it isn't done a lot.

I agree that it should never need more than the o-rings. All I'm saying is that's what I learned from the Nitro Engine Tuning DVD. When I did that to my OFNA engine, it was night and day. I used to chase a good tune on that engine and never got it. Once the carb was sealed, it took off and has run AWESOME ever since. Now I don't take the chance. I wonder how many people just don't know they have an air leak and blame it on a bad engine or bad carb?
I guess in my humble yet accurate opinion, it's quick, cheap insurance for a healthy, strong running engine. It worked for me, it can work for you too.

Well, here goes the first of many observations I'm making of the Savage X Vs the Warhead (I know, I know, there is no comparison...)...but I'm coming from a 2 month stretch here of working my @55 off on the warhead so needless to say, I'm LOvin' the Savage x:

The Bulkhead. Need I say more!? The bulkhead on the Savage X is more like "integrated" into the chassis where the warhead is connected with 6 flimsy screws (and not grabbing too much meat where they did screw in at that!).

There is no doubt that the Savage X will take much much more of a beating in the bulkhead department than the warhead ever dreamed of. On the left is my warhead after a 15 mph bump on one of the front tires. On the right is the Savage X setup.

No Comparison...if you're weighing out the options of which (between the savage x and the warhead) to get, get a savage x and save some $$ and time - sorry warhead guys, the savage x guys were right all along

Quickie, took a short break from my volunteer job have to hurry back. Finished breaking the Bad boy in. Yep 2nd gear at about 10-15 feet. Coming out of turns with 1 wheel up and correct throttle mashing....both wheels up and on back bumper for as long as you know how to control a wheelie with the throttle!!!!!! Jumping...running down hill and back up through about a 3 foot deep drainage ditch, very controlable in the air with the throttle /brake, nice landings. I'll try later to get some video. I give it a 10 so far........VERY HAPPY with both my new HPI trucks!!!!!!!!

OH, I just heard from my RC guy that TRAXXAS is coming out with a new 3.3 engine in all it's trucks and will have the 2.5 to 3.3 engine swap for $130

Bill get that video camera rolling. I haven't even started breaking it in yet. I checked the mesh, checked the screws, re-threadlocked the ones that seemed week. I was surprized at how many I didn't really trust..maybe it's just me but I re-locked quite a bit. Saturday (weather and ops permitting) I will be heading to a remote empty parking lot with a bag of Doritos and a Big Gulp to start and complete the breakin procedure. A better radio and servos are next in line for the truck. I can run it for now with my JR XR3i but I want another radio and some beefier servos. I can spend maybe 200.00 maybe more, any suggestions?

By the way, air temp was about 38-40 engine temp max 140. I'll be going with my son as soon as the charger beeps that the Hellfire is ready. Picked up a AA battery powed glow starter too, always got spare AA batteries with me so if I have both of my rechargable glow starters die I got backup. Think I'm going to be going through better than a gallon of Blue Thunder a week. Its the only fuel I've ever used and never had any problems. Oh I add a bottle of "smelly oil" to each gallon too.
