Do we really need to change the servos and Receiver in these things??

Bill please post a drag race vid

P

I don't want to run it with an Am transmitter. If I run at the LHS track or with buds I don't want the hastle of everyones RC getting in my wave. The DX3 auto searches for a blank spot on the airwaves and if it detects interference it auto switches to a new freq. I don't guess you would have to change out the radio and servos but the little things just make life easier. Personal pref I suppose.

No drag race today guys. Son wasn't up yet. Second shift then he goes home and plays with his Playstation 2 all night into the morning. It really flies with the stock motor...........I don't understand why guys what to hurry to get rid of perfectly good motors. Wait till the darn things wear out. What are you going to gain 3-5 MPH, trust me, you'll hardly notice the difference. I don't see a lot between the SavageX and the 4.6HO in the Hellfire except the Hellfire is just plain balls-to-the-wall nasty!!!!! Gotta take the son to work. Videos when I get back. No clue what I've got. Had the wife doing them. Could be a big "0". I know I was doing some hot "poopie"!!!!! Had is all over the place. Even gave it it's first pimple on it's roof. Just don't turn like the Hellfire and Revo LOL.......

To ZoomZoom1 Proline 40s should work with the "X" with the 14mm hubs(that come in the extra parts bag) and if you go with the 23mmHD hubs, be sure you get the Savage kind. I can tell you for sure when I get my WarHead back and put mine on.
Heres a pics of my 1st body damage. A pimple on the roof.
only got a couple clips out od 20 minute of video. My wife is about as good with the camcorder as she was with the trucks*. Got a lot of sky footage and a lot of footage of behind the truck (couldn't keep up with it).......
*(2nd pic is results of her last run with the EMAXX I bought her. Wide open under the wheel of my parked car).

The new clips

My 21 year old has tomorrow off, if the weather is 1/2 way decent we'll get that drag race. Maybe even throw my OS.18 Revo into the mix. I'd like to know myself. Hell why not include that bad a$$ Picco .21 TMAXX with that hot pipe! LOL I got some speed in my stable Those small blocks are evil

Quick question...breaking my savage x in...running fine for about 4 minutes , then she started idling really high so I turned down the idle screw ...barely did anything...running at 315 degrees! What to do, just richen up the HSN 1/4 turn like the manual says? I don't want to touch the LSN at this early point.

Richen it if you have to. Was the fuel level in the tank getting low? 315, I haven't seen 150

No, the tank was at ~75% capacity. 315, yes . Like I say, I went about 1.5 turns out on the idle and it barely affected that high idle. I'm richening 1/4 turn on the HSN...will report later

To canucksrc, sorry I forgot about the vemon fail safe. This is the one I use.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHUH6&P=ML
very simple. unplug your throttle servo wire #2 from your receiver and plug it into the fail safe (the dark wire goes to the same side as the other dark wire (like black to dark brown) then plug the fail safe into the receiversame thing with the dark wire (it goes where the other dark wires are). Turn off your radio and turn on your receiver. Take a jewelers screwdriver and turn the thingy on the fail safe until your brake comes on. Turn on your radio and the brakes should go off. Make sure your brakes are on hard enough to stop your truck but not so much to drag when the radio is on.

Hey Bill,
thanks for the reply. My truck is in tommorow and I'll have to look at it. The directions are a little confusing Could I get a pic of where you mounted the thing.

I ordered the venom after reading one of your posts. Thanks for all the great info you have provided to date. This is my first Nitro RC and look forward to the challenge.

315!!?? Sounds like the factory settings weren't factory. Correct me if I'm wrong Bill but it's supposed to increase in idle a bit as you go through the BI procedure right? Maybe you can't compare the two but I run my MT2 on the rich side and my temps usually hover around 190-230. I would def richen the HSN 1/8 or more. (probably more) cool that thang down! Let me know what you did and how it worked out for you. I'll be BI this weekend.

I have a question for you fellows. Last night at the races I noticed the guys with the Savage trucks had a real clean-up job after the race. Because of the exhaust outlet the right rear of the truck was caked in exhaust slim and dirt. My rear exhaust Revo remained pretty clean. The reason I bring this up is because I want to get an X soon. Is there a way to put a hose over the exhaust outlet and extend id out the back. Would that look ridiculous, and hurt the preformance?
Thanks``Ron

I have had my "X" now for about a week yesterday, and it rocks. First thing I did before I ran it was toss out the stock engine and strap in the O.S. 30vg. I put in the 3 speed as well as the reverse mod (still having bugs with that one). THe stock radio went and I added the Spectrum DX3. Let me tell you how nice the short antenna's are! I also (because I was doin' it all) put on the optional voltage meter on the new radio tray as well as the charge jack for fun. Nice additions HPI! It's been fully broken in with about 5 tanks of 20% break-in blend. Got about 4 tanks of the White lightning 30% of it now. This cooks man. When I put on my 40 series bowties, it just won't stop! Had to add the wheelie bar on back to attempt to control the wheelie's. More than quarter throttle makes it stand on end! Pretty sweet truck altogether.

It wheelies with the stock engine. I figured it would really hookup with the bowties. Can't wait to get my WarHead back so I can rape it for those new 40 series bowties I have on it. It cam have these nice looking "X" wheels. I'm pretty sure I'll not go the 3 speed & reverse route though. After going forward only in my 2 TMAXXes and having the forward only Hellfire I know the difference of not having that extra clutch in the transmission, you don't have that extra little wait for that 2nd clutch between the time you mash the throttle and the time it takes off. And if you don't run into things (which I would never do...LOL) you don't need it. Oh, thats right, I usually have one of my son's acting as a "corner marshal".

My 2 sons that don't have trucks (the other 2 have Revos) are getting pretty excited now too, with the new trucks Dad has and the one he is getting, the ones they'll be able to run are getting better and better. And so are the ones their friends will be able to use. Going to be some interesting fast racing going on. Good thing, my 21 year old is a pretty good wrench too.

Next week when I get my new Jammin Truggy, I'll have to get my 21 & 27 year old over here with their Revos and get all my Trucks and 4TEC out for that "Family" pic I've been waiting so long for

The big glob of stuff in the pic is what comes out of a TMAXX when you go forward only.

Hobbystore...I've got an O.S. 30 VG in my warhead...definately putting it in my savage sooner or later. Did you have to modify anything like the linkage, clutchbell?
