About all that I can contribute is , that I run my ST .90 in a BTE Vortex Delta using a 14 x 6, and Cool Power 10% nitro. It's powerful, and reliable.

It has been my experience that ST engines like a lower nitro then other engines, especially 90 and above. Remember that they are (were) built in Italy and they don't use nitro there as it is expensive!!!!!!!!!

i thought a 14x6 was for a 4 stroke :P does it turns this prop at a good rpm?

When it comes down to final prop selection, it's always trial & error. The 14 x 6 Master Airscrew takes my Vortex out of sight vertical !

danielfd. My S.T. 90 has been on a Goldberg Ultimate for four seasons and has gotten stronger each flight. A.P.C. 13X7 prop and Omega 10% nitro fuel. I always add enough castor to bring the oil content up to 20% and My S.T. engines all perform flawlessly. Good luck with yours.

TiGuy -> ST 90 props (1/23/2002 1:22:27 AM)

I agree that 10% nitro is the max. Zinger 14x6-10 is great on my WM Super Chipmunk. 13x7 or 8 works very well too, but I like the braking effect of the 14.

anyone knows at how many rpms the supertigre turns a 14x6 or a 15x4

Texan -> Supertigre .90 (1/23/2002 11:50:12 PM)

Danielfd,

I have been running a ST.90 on 10% OMEGA and a 14x6 MA prop in a Cermark Extra 300s ARF. I did swap out the carb for a OS 7D to help improve overall throttle performance. I am getting 10400 with this combo. For reference I also get 11300 with a 13x6 prop. However the 14x6 has better pull for vertical and breaking effect on down lines. I have not tried to hover yet but there seems to be plenty of pull. To see my plane click the WWW button on the bottom of this post.

Regards,
Scott

Check your spray bar. The earlier engines used a flat spray bar verses newer ones that are round. You can file the round one, but do not go into the fuel passage or you can pay up to $15.00 for a ruined spray bar.
To determine spray bar identification
1. The standard spray bar is completely round as you look down the carburetor. The bar is a uniform .155" in diameter.
2. The preferred bar has flat sides milled on each side .098" across and .336" long from the end.
3. I believe that it would be possible to modify a standard spray bar to those dimensions relatively easy. WARNING: If you grind too deep, you will break through to the fuel passage and ruin a perfectly good $15.00 So be careful!!!!!! This is brass!
This, on a 13x6 prop was good for 400 RPM on a piped ST 90
My piped and old ST 90 turns 13000 with 15% with above carb.
I changed to an ASP 108 carb,which is a clone of the OS 7D, but half the price. Note, some of them have a restrictor sleeve. Remove it! I gained 600 RPM, yes with a pipe!!! and Tach. Same day, engine and fuel.
This was too fast as it screamed on the dives. Changed to MA 14x6 and hit 12,700...for two years so far.
I prefer synthetic only as I had problems with varnish at these performance levels. This works and the engine lives is still running with I have no idea how many gallons of fuel.
My two cents!!

ChuckAuger -> Hey Twinman (1/26/2002 7:19:35 AM)

Do you ever fly at Space City field??

I have a buddy who lives in Katy..his son and I fly combat (well everything, really) together and I have been to this field. I'd like to whup the Duellist out down there..that is a nice field...

twinman -> Space City (1/26/2002 7:42:22 AM)

Yes, is only 8 miles from house. Normally fly at scobie field in George Bush reservoir as is closer and concrete runway. OK so I am spoiled!!Am member of BC flyers. Our website is http://www.bcflyers.com/sys-tmpl/door/
Come on down!!!!

ChuckAuger -> Yep..Scobee! (1/26/2002 7:50:08 AM)

I flew there January 5th~6th..your club makes mention of it....I was #13 on the 5th, my buddy was #6. Lots of rain..but it was 13F when we left here, so no complaints!

Texan -> Supertigre .90 (1/26/2002 8:22:23 AM)

Hey Danielfd,

Yes, I have to agree that my cowl paint match is kinda off. This old ARF came with an unpainted fiberglass cowl and belly pan. However, after some quick shots with a spray bomb she was ready to go. I have really enjoyed the flight performance of this plane. It is very neutral and has a wide speed envelope. Aerobatic performance and landings are a snap... no pun intended.
