Ungrateful little buggers, honestly!

Im 14 yes classed as a ''kid'' so i must be think and not know how to maintain the cars. For me thats all part of the fun, i will often take the car/engine apart just to discover new things. Figured out how a carb works today, at last. Well i allready knew how it worked in theory but never grassped how the fuel and air mixed exactly, but while studying it today somehow i saw how it all went together. A while back i couldnt see what made the fuel and air move around the 2 stroke and how the suction to the carb worked. But through tinkering i disscoverd it

But i do understand why most people think kids know nothing as most dont. Sometimes i find it hard to belive how little my peers know. Im not a loner i just have many interests

I remember when i was 5, saw my first nitro car Only on a shelf though When i was 10 i think after much saveing i got one 200 quid all in, bottom of the range everything. Still i couldnt belive how cool it was. i was greatfull for my dad chipping in 100 quid!.

Im not going to bore you with stories though

If it were me id say that they should consider themselfs lukey to have such great and expensive thing GIVEN to them. I cant belive the attitude, asking for more!!

(Sorry no time to check through the post)

p113.....i'm glad to here you have such an interest in R/Cing. you sound far from being a loner so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. sometimes kids your age just don't get "it" (the joys of more sophisticated play) and simply follow what everybody else is doing.

good luck to you and i hope one day you can continue to grow your R/C collection. Cheers.

Mate, if you can dissasemble a carby and understand how it works and want to learn about this stuff at age 14 then may I be so bold as to suggest that what you have between your ears is rather special. Set your goals high in life, work hard at school and the world will be your oyster.

p113, definitely do well in high school so you can go on to have fun in engineering school. Sounds like you would have a blast as a mechanical engineer.

I was a huge computer nerd in high school in the early 80's. I went for an electrical engineering degree. Now I write software for embedded electronics. I work alongside a lot of very smart, very entertaining nerds like myself. I get to watch the others design cool mechanical and electronic devices. They hand it over to me to make it work with software. The work is very satisfying even after 12 years professionally.

The money also is a great way to support an RC habit

Good luck!

Ken

Thanks a lot guys

Mechanical engineering is what id like to do. I’m hoping to get an apprentice, unsure which company to try yet but that will come in time

I like PCs and enjoy messing with them, modding ect. But i think i would probably get bord doing it as a career, engines are still more interesting to me. But im sure ill continue to learn about PCs as a hobby/interest.

Go for it !
You won't regret it and the world is full of oportunities. If you get a degree you can choose where you want to work and for who you want to work. There are not enough mech. engineers around and it only gets worse.
Again: Go for it and and you will find yourself a job you can call a hobby

As for the kids.
They should be happy with what they get, buying 2 of those machines (well they are toys, Big Boys Toys!) is IMO overdone.
That they ask for more.
unbelievable...

I bought my 9 yr old son a MT for Christmas last year. WE love it. The usual routine is that he breaks it and I fix it. He is 10 now and just starting to get a bit more involved on wanting to know how it works. Hes not got round to getting his hands dirty yet though. We go out bashing together and its great. (MT v Leopard). BALACT MAN, I understand what folk are saying about the kids wanting the better truck and all that but lets face it !QUOT!don't we all!QUOT! If I see two items that do the same thing and one is more expensive then the other I want the expensive one. not for any other reason then more expensive MUST be better. (e.g. I could have bought a marder or a monster beetle). Best of luck with the sale and I am sure that what ever they get in the end they will definitely appreciate it.

wish my dad knew more than i did on my interests
my dad doesnt even watch me race
for example: "hey dad look i got first place in the nationals" (not litarly just an example!) "wat ever son i have to go watch my perfect son and daughter play tennis in hawaii" i mean thats true wat he says
owell i like being on my own
yea wait till dirty hands come!! i have to use oxy wash one them!!
