ever see a low priced engine that has .60hp and 39,000rpms, then look to your right and see the same size engine with 2hp and 29,000rpms with double the price tag?

what would you rather have punch or top out speed? tell me, i have the ofna red head .12 it has 38k rpm and .55hp, it was super cheap, and seems reliable, it has enough punch to lift the front end with the batt pack in the front and it tops out faster than my 2 speed rs4.

me, i go for high rpms, the more punchy engines would only have an advantage for less than .5 sec and will slip in the dirt due to too much torq, but the high rpm engines have smooth range and have the advantage in corners and streight aways, all high hp engines can do is come out quickly from the corners chancing a spin out.

seriously, give your opinion

I like the punch better, more fun to play with and you don't need a drag strip to top it out or have fun. Which truck is the Red head in? I always thought it was a cheapie engine.

i get an engine with lots of torque and regear it to have a pretty good top speed. that way i can kind of get the best of both worlds. but wait! youre asking about horsepower! in my opinion its not as important because its where the torque and horsepower cross is where your sweet spot is. and thats never at the highest hp rating of the engine.

its in a nitro evader st.
dont let the price fool you, its a mean little screamer!!, my truck has the buggy ratio and it will top out in 1.8sec which is 54mph! it will spin the masher tires from a stop and will rip up the grass like a roto tiller.

the red head could possibly have more torq than hp, it does not feel like a 1/2 hp engine. some real cars out there will have 200hp but 260torq.

How about factoring the weight of the vehicle in the equation

the evader is pretty light, so its pretty easy to get good acceleration.

I think the only truck i would get is a stadium, just the fact that they are cheep to repair, they are fast and they are easy on there engines. i mean this thing will top out faster than my dads rs4 with the two speed but at that speed it is scary because the truck balloons the tires to the point that its "floating" on the surface... half throttle is all you want.

It depends on the use, and the vehicle.
a big MT with more than one speed wouldnt really be able to cope with a low torque high revving engine as a light single speed on road car would cope but wouldnt need larger amounts of torque and would probably be a bit of a pig to drive.

Would definitly be interested to know if anyone has done such a thing.

like putting a .46 genesis lump in a hpi sprint or a high rev .15 in a genesis

well of course, this is how i see the desired power to weight ratio...

>.51 hp 31k rpms (stadium) no more than 2 hp
>.70 hp 31k rpms (touring) no more than 2 hp
>1.2 hp 28k rpms (monster)
>1.5 hp 30k rpms (buggy)
>2 hp 28k rpms (large monster)

> = more than
