The same as the 5945's.

We still have yet to receive them.

Mike.

Carroll-RCU -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (5/5/2006 6:29:27 PM)

Why are they discontinuing the 5945? This is the most popular servo in giant scale and Hitec is replacing it! Stands to reason when something works good they just have to change it.

ben beyer -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (5/5/2006 6:48:22 PM)

It's the same as the 5945 except it has a shaft bearing I believe.

Just making a good product better without charging more... Isn't that what a good manufacturer is supposed to do?

The 5985MG is basically the same servo as the 5945MG but with the bushed case top like we use in the HS5955TG.

Carroll-RCU -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (5/6/2006 2:12:39 PM)

O.K. I'm all for quality Improvemnt. The bushing in the top case is definatley a great Improvement.
The 5945 Is all I use and It has been a great servo. Sounds like the 5985 is the same, but Improved.

rcairflr -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (6/17/2006 12:53:01 AM)

I emailed HITEC Service and their response to me is: "Different motor, new case design and gear train". Sounds like a whole new servo to me.

MikeMayberry -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (6/26/2006 9:55:57 PM)

They have yet to arrive. Sorry, I don't have a specific date.

Mike.

mcmike -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/10/2006 1:21:58 PM)

is it possible to retro-fit the new bushed case onto the 5945? Are the cases available?
thanks!

MikeMayberry -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/11/2006 8:28:30 PM)

No, the case is different.

5965/5985's are starting to ship this week so should be available in the shops soon.

Mike.

666 -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/27/2006 3:44:08 AM)

Correct me if I'm wrong but here are the specs of the two:

HS-5945MG DIGITAL HIGH TORQUE 153oz/181oz .16/.13 SEC weight 1.97oz

HS-5985MG DIGITAL HIGH TORQUE 144.42oz/172.20oz speed .16/.13 SEC weight 2.18oz.

So it looks like the 5945 has more tourque and it is lighter .. so why changing? [8|]

Maudib -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/27/2006 4:50:52 PM)

If it had the tighter lash of the 5955... well I'd be all for the extra .25 oz ea... but in the long run... I'll use the new 5985's just as I've used the 5945's

Would have made more sense though to switch to Titanium gears for the lash... or maybe its the bushings that do that... in which case... I'm all for losing a little slop (not that the 5945's had much to begin with.

akschu -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/27/2006 5:12:56 PM)

Any ideas on when tower will get the first shipment? I've been waiting on this last part for a couple of weeks.

schu

MikeMayberry -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/27/2006 7:40:04 PM)

Essentially the torque and speed are so close that you will not be able to tell any differnce in the performance. The case top bushings are what add's the extra weight but will keep things tighter over time. Titanium gears were not an option due to the added cost... if you want Ti gears then get the 5955TG.

We've shipped 500 to date but it looks Horizon Hobby was the first to put them on order because they got a bunch of them. Our next shipment is due in a couple weeks.

Mike.

akschu -> RE: Hitec 5945 replaced by Hitec 5985 (7/27/2006 8:05:15 PM)

Did any go to tower or did they all go horizon?
