Hey,

Which Heli should i get? There the same price but they got different engines, I heard that the PRO-50H won't give enough power, is that true? But do you think a beginner needs that much power from a OS engine? Thanks for view

Choice 1:

Raptor 30 v.2
32 SX-HX
Muscle Pipe II - 30 Size
Futaba 240
Futaba 7CHP with servos

Choice 2:

Raptor 50v2 with PRO-50H with muffler
Futaba 240
Futaba 7CHP with servos

Do you think the Futaba 7CHP would be enough if i choose the Raptor 50?

Get the TT-50, and learn how to hover, and fly, then when that engine wears out get the OS.
No point in wearing out the OS engine while learning to fly it

My TT-50 runs great, and has more than enough power for my skils at the moment.

Buy the 50 as you'll be kicking your self later with the 30..

your radio choice if fine too.

An R30 with an OS37 and an MP2 is a pretty awesome combo.
Assuming CF blades and 1950 on the head, it will perform nearly as well as a 50.
I would take an OS37 powered 30 over a TT powered 50, assuming I could not afford an OS50

I agree on getting the 50 size. I have the R50 with the TT50 engine. After 51 flights I have not had a single problem with the engine. It started great on the first try and has run great since. Having said that there are many more that don't run well and thus I would suggest an OS50.

The 7CHP will be fine, but you might want to get a better gyro in the future. The 401 is great. The 240 should be adequate for learning.

Yea.. after reading all your advice i decided to choose the 50 with the TT-50 and i would fly around for a few flights until i can afford a better 0S 50 and then i'll upgrade the gyro to 401, i will call my LHS and ask what servo comes with the radio, and i'll post it so you guys can give me advice about the servos

It comes with the Futaba S3151 Sport, is it strong enough to steer the Raptor 50? By the way, what's the difference between the 30 and 50 not incuding the size? I might get a Raptor 30 because its only 1 inch smaller and it is powered with n OS engine and a muscle pipe not like the 50 with the TT-50 and the stock muffler..... so what is the difference beterrn 30 and 50? thanks

a bit less power swinging smaller blades, and with a 37 in there you should be able to do something fairly good with it...

its got a smaller boom (and so smaller belt) different exhaust, different pinion on the clutch bell. and on the raptor i think the 30 has a non driven, and the 50 has a driven tail

Do youself a favor and get the Raptor 50! I have one with the OS Hyper and it is a good stable flying Heli that has plenty of Power. This heli is much more stable than any of the 30 size helicopters that I have flown but is also a good 3D helicopter.

I would not put 3151's on a 50 especially the collective.

Also if you don't want to fiddle with the motor do yourself a favor, get an OS.

for analog you could use Hitec 635 (or 605 if you can find any around)
Digital the 6635 would be ok

If you get cheap servos now you’ll be buying better servos in the near future and possibly some repair parts at the same time. I suggest the Futaba 9252 servos for collective and cyclic. You won’t need to buy better servos ever. They are $70 each from HeliProz if you buy 3.

I ran lesser servos and got 41 flights on them before the gears were shot.

Unfortunately it's hard to keep the price down and get good stuff on helis. You can try some Hitec servos to save a bit of money, such as the 635's, and you may or may not find them adequate. They have a decent reputation.

so here I'm trying to decide which is the best heli for a newbie, the 30 or 50? i have heard a bunch of good info on the 30v2 and the 50v2, the 30 becomes a 50 and a 50 becomes a 60, right? the 50 is very stable and when it's time to upgrade this thang is all about having fun. can any one recomend what else i need, i have a futaba TX 6xas and thats it. your .02 will be apreciatad.

50 is a stretched 30 with a bigger motor.
50 cannot be made a 60.
A raptor 90 is a stretched 60.

If you have the initial cash, best all around is a 50V2 or SE if you want bling, and an OS50SXH or Hyper, 401 gyro with 9254, and a set of 9252 servos for cyclic and collective, plus a decent standard on throttle.

For a bit less a R30V2 with an OS37 is a darn good heli

How well do you fly? Is this your first heli? You will not outgrow the engine/servos even if they are basic in the first few months. If you consider learning, most time it helps to have good equipment, but what is needed in learning is basic. You want a good starting platform(Raptor 50 V2) and from there, you need a good gyro and tail servo. Servos can be upgraded as you pass their level of performance. I see alot of pilots with basic servos who upgrade when they move to 3-D. If you want better response, get a metal headblock, red dampners and white paddles. Take out expo and hold on.
There is a mod for the TT.50 for the needle to make it more responsive. Do a search on it.
