Try building this thing while working 10+ hours a day and every other Sat and Sun, I have pretty much put every spare minute into this thing since the 1st of Feb and it is nice to see the end approaching.
I am going to cover the tail surfaces before I mount them to the fuse then cover the fuse, I am still not sure how I am going to handle filling the area around the stab where it is joined to the fuse. I may carve some balsa to fill the majority then use some light weight spackle to blend it all together.
As far as the windshield goes I think I will try to do it all with .030 sheet, styrene angle pieces and high fill primer. I will post some pics when I get there.

Status: offline 		The fuselage is completely covered. The top 3/4 is covered with one piece of polyester. I still have to paint the Polycrylic on the top.

I bet there was alot of tugging to get all the wrinkles out specially around the wing fairings?? I decided to attach my fabric with dope, I have over a quart of dope on hand and a quart of PolyC so I decided to attach the fabric with dope and fill the weave with PolyC. I have 2 coats of dope applied to the tail surfaces and they are ready for some 400grit sanding and I have the 1st coat of dope applied to the bottom wing panels. With any luck I will be putting fabric on tomorrow.

You are making good progress. There WAS a lot of tugging as I locked the fabric in place. I then used the heat gun on it before I took the photo. As soon as I put the Polycrylic on it wrinkled up. If I hadn't seen this before I would have been shocked. As time goes by these wrinkles will go away. A swipe or two with the heat gun will finish it up. Then a couple more coats.

I don't think I've seen anyone build a plane of this complexity in such a short period as you, especially considering holding down a full time job. Congratulations.

I have some work to do to the fuse to get it ready to cover and I will deal with the landing gear fairings after covering. I ordered my panels for the ailerons from Sig today and my wheel, I ordered the wheels a couple weeks ago and didn't notice on one per pack I orded the 2nd wheel today. I can't wait to get the covering on and reassemble the plane to see how it looks.

I will probably spend several days puttering around with the fuselage to make sure it looks good before I spray color on it.

I am going to take the easy way out and order my pinking tape and reinforcement tape from Gary @getstencils.com He sent me a sample last year when I ordered Stencils for another plane I was building and they look great. They are cut out of Solartex and have a scale size pinked edge. I figured up I need 107' of rib tape and 47' of reinforcement tape. That will total around $85. I am going to make the rib stitches by laying down lines of thinned Elmers glue with a syringe across the ribs. The rib stitching on the Waco classics is very subtle and you do not want to over do it.
I am getting ready to add a little filler to the top wing panels and while that is drying I am going to start covering the tail surfaces,

Status: offline 		No photos of progress, but I have the lower wings just about done. The formers are going on the fuse. I noticed the slots didn't match up earlier, so I pre-cut a bunch of blanks. I'm using mostly blanks. I did rework the Robart #160 retract tail wheel. It even has a built-in spring. The 1/4 music wire gear welded well.

Have been looking at full scale color schems. The one below looks good to me.

I believe Jim Pepino must have never built his YMF-5 design or he would have corrected the numerous design flaws. Or, maybe his only interest was selling plans, not in producing a quality product such as Gary Allen, Nick Ziroli, Wendell Hostetler, or Chuck Cunningham.

I keep finding the errors, sometimes a little late. Like for the bottom wing halves, the wing tube holes-all in a line except 1/4 root rib (which does line up with center section). Whoever said it was right- the kit cutter cut to plan.

I've been an engineer over 35 years and remember designing with velum and mylar. It was easy to slip out of scale, and tempting to let it slide on a layout that took a month or more to draw. But after a few early shop problems with parts that didn't fit, I learned. I don't think Pepino did.

Status: offline 		I went through the plans before I started and drew new ribs, I fixed so many errors I cannot remember everything I fixed

I finished up the covering of the tail surfaces and the bottom wing. I ironed down the edges of the fabric and sealed them with a coat of dope. I shrunk the covering with an iron and I will go back over it with the heat gun very carefully and make sure the fabric is tight. The pieces will then be ready to add the rib stitching.
