Good Luck with the surgery,
I have started covering the fuse, I have the bottom side covered and I am getting ready to cover the top. I am going to cover mine with 2 pieces as you did on yours. So far so good, the bottom side was easy I know the top is going to be a bit tricky.
Later!!
Anthony

I have the fuse covered and I am happy with how it is turing out,
I sealed all the edges down and then shrunk the covering and sealed around the cockpits. I will trim the cockpits and tuck the edge under the cockpit sheeting. I decided not to cut out for the hatches until after covering, we shall see how this works out. Here are a few pics of the fuse.

I didn't feel like working on anything tonight after work so I went down and threw the plane back together.
It took a bit longer than expected(1.5 hours) and I am very pleased with how the plane is looking. My next chore is to get the ailerons sanded and fitted a little better then covered and the corrugated panels applied. I will place the order for my rib tape later this week and start hitting all the little details. All the covering needs a few coats of PolyC and the fuse will need some high fill primer and chart tape to simulate the aluminum panels. Here are a few pics of how the Waco is shaping up.

Outstanding Anthony! I don't think I'll be working on mine for a week or so. The surgery (they call it surgery although no cutting was involved) went fine as did the physical therapy afterward. However, I am extremely sore. I have high confidence that this will fix the problem eventually.

Ken,

Glad to here the procedure/surgery went according to plan. It is a must to be able to hold a transmitter and move the sticks. Not to mention how neccesary it is to be able to build.

Anthony,

The WACO is looking good!!!! When you speak of chart tape, AKA drafting tape? are you refering to the stuff they use to use in add layouts and such before computers?

Hope everyting works out great for you Ken.

Rick,
Yes that is what I am talking about. I bought up a good supply of 1/64, 1/32 and 1/16" tape a couple years ago. The stuff works great, just put the tape down where you want a panel line and spray a few coats of high fill primer over the tape. After it has dried sand down to the top of the tape and pull the tape up to reveal the panel line. It adds a nice little touch with little effort.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. The arm really has my attention this morning. I go see the gorilla in 30 minutes for PT.

Anthony that is exactly the way I did all of the panel lines on my Ziroli Corsair. Sure makes it look good.

Hope they don't give you too hard or a time at therapy,
I am hoping to get back on the Waco in a couple days and start applying the coats of PolyC and finish up the aileron's. The landing gear will come after that.
Later!

Keep at and you will get there, so far it is looking good. I have been stalled on mine due to working too many hours, I am actually at work today(so much for a long holiday weekend). I ordered my Rib tape from getstencils.com but unfortunately he no longer makes painting stencils. Looks like I will have to find another source or break out the frisket paper and make my own.
Later!!

Hi,

I need to work faster and learn to take better pictures without repeats. It is coming together OK. Currently I'm building the top wing sections. The front cabane attachments just in front of the wing joiners make for a poor design. I'm doing it more or less per plan, but I can't help thinking there could be a cleaner approach. For the attachment to upper wing, the plans call for solder lugs with brass tube spacers. Has anybody found a cleaner approach? Or is that considered adequate as is? i've used those lugs before for a Midwest Stearman, but it's much smaller.

Thanks.

I made my attachment points different, I used tubing from Glenn Torrence models and ran the wire inside this tubing. I then used JB Weld to attach a 4-40 rod where it mounts to the wing and used a heavy ball link to make the attachment. This will allow me to adjust the wing incidence anytime I wish. Take a look back through this thread and you will see the ends that Ken drew for using the GTM tubing. They work out great and look very scale.
I will try to take some pics of my struts later so you can get a better understanding of how I made them.
Later!!
