Just trying to line up my next project,if I ever get the Waco finished!!! I am also considering a Swick Taylorcraft. There was a kit for one , Lanier I think, but it seems to not be available anymore, so the SD may be next.

Mango12,

I built a Lanier Taylorcraft not long ago. I thought it was a very good kit, but expensive. Don't know if it's still being produced.

Scott, the SD is one of my favorite planes of all times. Last weekend I took it to Waco TX for the IMAA District 8 Mini Festival and flew it 7 times. It has over 100 flights. It's powered by a ZDZ80RV. The plans are very good. Nothing like the Waco plans. What few short comings there are are noted in thread.

While at Waco I had a buddy of mine fly it so I could tape it for YouTube.

Ken,
Excellent video recording! Sharp looking SD looks like it is a very easy plane to fly or should I say Dave made it look easy to fly.

Dave, it is a very easy plane to fly and just as easy to land. It never gets boring to fly.

Anthony I will try to but here is my problem: Many people can fly very well but they are video challenged. This is due to inexperience. Several times I have had someone video my plane while I was flying it. The result would be a lot of jumping, zoomed in too close, zoomed out too far, "I lost it" lots of sky, trees, and field.................... I will be doing the maiden myownself. Don't know if I can find a videographer.

I taped Jim's 1/2 scale Spacewalker II the same weekend as the SD. I've flown and landed this plane and it handles beautifully. See the Related Videos on YouTube for another video of his plane.

Yes I do still have the plans. I bought those parts from Stan's Fibertech. Stan's is now under new ownership. Here is the web address.

I enjoyed the video of your Decathlon. Nice plane I might add.

I know it's early yet....But, do you still plan to make it to Bomber field in September? I hope to have the chance to see it and maybe the WACO then????

Bring your camera with you and I will be glad to play videographer. I might not be quite as good as you, but I would like to think I am better at it than the average bear.

Rick, thanks for the offer and I'll take you up on it. I sure do plan on being there.

We normally stay in Sealy at the Best Western but for the first time we plan to stay in the Best Hempstead Inn. Hope we are not making a mistake.

My Waco is coming along great and I plan to have it there.

Well Guys and Gals here a few progress photos. This side took most of the day. A couple of days ago I spray painted Monokote red trim sheets with the correct shade of red. Of course I scuffed them first. I laid out the lettering with a drawing program and cut all of the red stuff out of these sheets. I then used 1/16" pen stripping tape around all of the red stuff. I'm tired. I guess I'll do the other side tomorrow.

Note, when looking at these photos, be sure to click the blue box in the bottom right corner of the photo for the best view.

Ken,

The lettering and stripes look very nice and the black pinstripe boarders really set them off well. Get some rest, do the other side, wings, cowl (the biggest challenge) and pants and it will be a very sharp looking Waco.
