Here is my vintage/old school rc. It is a Tamiya Falcon made around 1984, I think. I am the second owner, I bought it in 1992 and it was still in mint condition. That was until I bought it ( LOL ). Since then it was been rebuilt 3-4 times. After the last rebuild (1996) it has sat on a shelf in my room. And Yes that is the original painted body that I got with the car when I bought it.

wow... that pile-o-batteries there. lol! how many packs do you have?

Anyone know the best way to get a hotshot to do over 40 mph? i have a 15 turn it now with an 19 tooth cant fit anything bigger. I'm going to buy an 8.4v hope that helps. I put a 10 turn it and the thing couldnt get out of its own way. maybe a 13 turn? please hlep thanks. An i took the driveshaft out so its faster in 2wd.

The hotshot looks killer, due to the 80's appearance. Maybe you need team checkpoint power in it.
Throw a 12 turn team checkpoint motor in it, you'll see a difference and might even save a little runtime.

the only problem using lower turn motors on most tamiays is the fact that the gearing sucks i know most of them only have a few options (if any)for pinion and spurr compinations

He could try brushless, but that's a more expensive route to take. I did because I always wanted to.
I dont actually own a comm lathe either.

I own several RC10's and RC10T's. I have one that I race in a stock class and have replaced parts as needed with what ever I can find online. So it has some white parts, some black and mostly very dirty parts. It's scratched up here and there but it is alot of fun to race and I always get alot of comments on it from guys who "used" to have one. Well now I want to restore a RC10T. I'm not real picky about making it "as new" but just want to make it very nice to look at. I wont be racing it. I may run it up and down my street a little but mostly want it to be something that I can be proud to own. I have one that has all white parts that is in very nice clean condition. The chassis however is all scratched up on the bottom. My question is...when you restore one of these do you shop for a new unscratched tub or do you paint the old tub? If painting...do I need to completely sand down the tub to remove all the old paint? What paint do you use?

I was given the RC10 the other day. I just started to go through it tonight. It has the 6 gear tranny. I took it apart and the plastic idler gears are melted...trashed...shot...wasted... Anyone know where to get these? I looked at Tower but didnt see them listed. I think the rest of the tranny can be cleaned up and work ok. If I can find the gears I think I would also add bearings and it would be good to go then. Would it be best to just find a stealth tranny to put in it instead? Is the stealth tranny a direct bolt in replacement? Can it be a new current stealth tranny or does it have to be an older stealth tranny?
