Hi Dan! God I’ve been busy lately! Family, house needing attention, work, and just plain life issues. It’s amazing I’m able to make the time to fly! Man's gotta have his priorities though! I haven’t had time available to work on the PII yet. I did like the first one so much in looks and build alone that I bought another as a backup model! I also picked up a couple K&B 20’s for our Slow Quickie class. I figure that will be a good place to start before going head first into the AMA 424! Are you going to Crosswinds pylon race at Castaic in May? That is my next race I’m shooting for. I crashed my AT-6 last weekend when the unglassed wing folded in mid-air so I’m building another at the moment and most of my weekends and week nights are going into that darn thing. I hope this is not a trend where we build our next planes better and better, as paying more and more attention to so much detail takes an aweful amount of time! It sure would be a lot nicer if we could take these AT-6’s out of the box and only recover them & add our equipment instead of having to go over the joints with glue & glass! Sheeesh! I think that’s what I like about the Predator. Just drop you equipment in! It’s ready!!! Yeah I fly at the Narrows! You should come out sometime so we can meet up. Or I can meet you at Sepulveda sometime. Let's see, the Sepulveda race isn't till July 23rd. I'll let you know before-hand when I get back up to the air strip & I'll bring the PII with me so you can check it out. I will honestly tell you I like the plane a lot but I can in no way be a good source for comparison info with it. A lot of people say really good things about the Viper or Vortex and then there’s Seekers and many others which I’ve never even held, so you can just see for yourself my PII & draw your own conclusions. Heck maybe you can even teach me a thing or two about what kinds of things to look for in a pylon racer! I don’t see any reason why the motor won’t balance the plane out as I don’t think there is a huge difference in weight between the TT or OS.25’s and the TT.40. I have all three engines so I can measure for sure & see what the differences in weights are. Like you say you could buy the long motor mount and shift the engine forward a bit & that should take care of it. Let me read through the instructions later & see what it says about balancing. I would hope they’ve made the plane to not need any weight to get the cg correct. Now that I’m thinking about it I tend to fly my planes tail heavy anyway so a slightly lighter motor may be advantageous to me! If you're ever in the area you're more than welcomed to swing by the house. Just let me know. Ron. Oh BTW, with your B/L pylon planes you've been flying, you are prolly going to think these things are slow with the little ol' .25's in them. Therefore you'll be a better pilot and a shoe-in for kicking my butt with your experience. But in my opinion, the coolness factor of these planes and races is off the chart!
