I left mine out but I also cut the cowl out a little more than what we recomend. If you are using cans I would use it so you don't have to chew up the bottom of the cowl as much.

Really, if you are running a DA, ZDZ, or 3W, you should have no issues without baffling as long as the back side of the cowling is opened up.

yes I did most certainly used baffeling, I even did the top and the sides. I just painted them black so it does not stick out if you mostly fly 3D you'll need it more than ever, use the thin balsa sheeting the scale wont even know its there

Hey Johnny-RCU

I noticed in your video (correct me if I am wrong) that you did not use the cowl baffling. Didi you have any cooling issues?....... w/ cannisters do you think I need to have the baffling or will it be fine without it. It would save a little weight with out it.

Mark Dennis, What do you think about leaving the baffling out? (FYI- I Fly more 3D than IMAC)

Thanks in advance!

Rennie

trust me it really sucks to have a flame out when the nose is pointed straight upabout 12 feet off the ground, its just the right height to pancake it on the belly. I use the thinnest balsa sheeting and bsi ca. it bonds so well that it even smokes. It will not fail unless you break when taking the cowl on and off, I even blocked straight out from the engine box.
if you want I can post pics the easiest way to color the baffels is to use a black magic marker

Mark, I got a chance to check out the rest of the gear in the fuse box tonight. Everything looks okay except maybe the landing gear. The landing gear seemed to be a bit flimsy - like I could easily bend the gear both to the inside and outside by just grabbing the gear at the wheel holes and without tugging to hard was able to make it 1/2 inch narrower!! I don't think that's normal. The advertisement says 7075 Aluminum which I thought was very springy and would not easily deform. Is this a mistake? I just had to put a stronger gear on another kit of a 260 and I don't want to go through a flimsy gear change over again.

Any suggestions?

Bobby

Bodywerks;

I hope you didn't take my last comments as critisizing. Not my intent.

Okay.. today I weighed and measured mine. 28.8 lbs on a digital
bathroom scale. Wheelbase was 67 inches and tailwheel weight was 3 lbs.
Result was 7 inches aft of center of landing gear put the CG 7/16" aft of
desired. That's close enough for the maiden, which will tell me if and what
changes may be needed. I'm not happy about the weight, so may have to
consider some carbon fiber after-markets.

Rockyaged, Sorry to hear about the weight but I can easily see almost a pound that could be taken off. The dual Fromeco 4800's are nice but add a lot of weight, The power expander could be lost without a problem, and you could drop one rudder servo. If you were to do all of this and go carbon wich will save 3/4 to 1 pound you would be right at 26 3/4-27 pounds easy.

Bobby Folsom, As for the gear have you noticed the rather large hole in the center? This is what causes that and once it is on the plane it is really strong.

I did get some pics of it on the ground and will try and post them tomorrow. I only was able to get in two flights before I lost an elevator servo but I got that all fixed now and will fly it this weekend as long as the weather man is wrong and it dosent snow, the good thing is he usually is.

If you have pics of your baffling, I would appreciate you sharing. First time installing engine baffling.

Thanks!

Rennie

sounds good i have to pull the cowl anyway to check the smoke lines i did the bottom like the instruction, supported with little triangle shapes underneith the top is like the apex of a circle, just trail fit and shape with a hobby knife and then cut the sides trial fit shape with hobby knife, but it is the most important thing for 3d, as i'm sure you know high alpha mean no airflow through the cowl

1 2400 mAh Fromeco
3 Fromeco Regulators
