Pattern flyers also say they can feel the gear backlash in all-metal gear servos. This is why JR came out with the hybrid plastic and metal gear train in their "SA" servos. Give me a break.........

it's the same thing with sfg's, do they really make a diffrence??? i flew the brio twicw today and myslef and a fellow flyer could tell a pretty good diffrence in how it handled!!! it seemed to track much smoother, point rolles and knife edge was alot better!!! i was really surprised how much it helped!! as i said i've seen QQ's 2m brio with a horizontal wing above the fuse and it also helps this smaller brio!!! try it out guys!! and it's just not my thoughts but my buddy felts the same too and we both fly imac!

Hi all, I,m a bit behind everyone else but have just aquired a brio 10. Has anybody used a seperate battery to the rx or are you all using the bec from esc. There are strong suggestions in the instructions, on the e-flite website and a seperate instruction sheet to advise against using the esc's bec. Cheers. Roger

Be safe and use a BEC as they urge.

Hi Nigel, are you using a battery direct to your rx or do you recommend getting an ubec. Thanks. Roger

I am using a UBEC rating is about 3A on anything with more than 3S. Although some ESC say theirs is 3A rating the efficiency is very low which causes heat particuarly if using more than 3S lipos. For the Brio I use an EMAX esc with a 3A rating BEC and no UBEC because the current drain of the receiver and servos is pretty small. If they are digital however I would have used the UBEC.
A simple rule of thumb is if in doubt use a UBEC

So whats the difference between using an ubec and just plugging a battery into the rx. Or does the rx have some sort of built in ubec. Cheers. Roger

Just started building the Brio just could not stay a way form this plane. Thinking of using a Rimefire 35-30 1250 KV or 35-30 1450 kv. motor It's 1/2 oz. lighter and more watts than the 480. Any feed back on these motors? Reluctant to use the Eflight bl 10 at 4.3 oz. 122g. Just too heavy IMP. This plane will be used as a pattern plane no 3Ding. Hoping to keep the weight down under 30oz. With 2100 bat. & dx6 gear. Eflight 40 amp esc.

Eflight 480/1020 = 3.1 oz. 86g & 275 watts
Eflight bl 10 = 4.3 oz. 122g & 375 watts
Rime fire 35-30/950 = 2.5 oz. 71g & 296 watts
Rime fire 35-30/1250 = 2.5 oz. 71g & 330 watts
Rime fire 35-30/1450 = 2.5 oz. 71g & 388 watts
Hacker A30-16m = 3.7 oz. 104g & 350 watts

Thanks Art.

How is your build going... I just completed one myself, now just waiting for some good weather to give her maiden flight...

Here is my setup for the Brio 10

BP A2814-6 Brushless Outrunner Motor with 10x6 prop works out to 380 watts
4 E-Flight 7.5 Gram Sub-Micro S75 Servos
BP 60amp ESC
Thunder Power eXtreme 2200-3S-TP-25C Handles 55amps continuous
Spektrum AR6100 6 Channel Receiver
Spektrum DX7 TX

I did a pre-flight power test with my wattage power meter and prop motor combo is drawing 410 watts at full throttle at about 40 amps. Should equate too little over half throttle for straight vertical.

Oh and the weight comes in flight ready at 30.8 oz

Total cost of the Build without TX

Brio 10 99.95
4 Servos 62.00
Brushless Motor 29.95
ESC 60A 34.95
AR6100 49.95
2200-3S-TP-25C 79.95

Total 356.75

Here are some photos of the completed plane...

Yes the weather has been cold and windy here as well.. Can't wait for a break in the weather to give her a spin in the sky..

Oh here is the information on that 29.95 400 watt motor which is now down to 26.95.. They suggest to prop it for around 350 watts.. Which is pretty close to where I am at, that wattage reading was between the ESC and the battery so thats really close to 350 watts at the prop.....

BTW cool on the mini telemaster with ski's got any photos?

SUPPO 2814-06
• 100g Outrunner
• Kv: 1410, Rm: 0.050, io: 2.1A, Poles: 14
• Max watts: 400, Max amps: 40A
• Shaft is 4mm
• Dimensions: 35mm x 36mm

Thanks
