Hi, Being a gasser I don't know to much about these type of aircraft and how to setup
the power system for them. My questions about the Brio are, How about a geared motor?
Would you get the same performance as an outrunner? How about flying time, longer
or about the same?´

Thanks,
Ron

I don''t have much experiance with geared motors but I prefer outrunners because of the direct drive simplicity.

Yes I have flown at least couple dozen times now and it is an awesome setup... Unlimited vertical..

I really like the way this plane flys.. The Brio flys like a whole lot bigger plane than it is... Rock solid performance from take-off to landing..

Get an outrunner motor don't mess with the weight of a gear box that is my vote...

Ok, I have reed the set up on your Brio´s on this site, and the info is great! thanks for shering, but I do have a question, I found a combo with a SUPPO 2814-06 motor and a Suppo 70A ESC is the 70A too much? or should I go for it?

Hi.

Direct drive is good, but the thrust limit itself with a high number turn motor (Low kv) for using big props. The energy provided is less than a geared high kv motor with the same prop. However, the low kv and direct drive, provides higher efficiency (Thrust per consumed energy).

Probably not. Spektrum DX7 is usually delivered with standard servos. Buy the radio and receiver only, and specify servos that you need.

The alternative can be this:
Servos/Radio:
Futaba 6EX 6-Channel full range 2.4GHz Transmitter/Receiver http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPZT8&P=0
Futaba S3154 Digital Micro HT HS Servo (four of those) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNCW1&P=0

Conciderably cheaper than the 7 channel system. You most probably don't need more than 6 ch in electric flight anyway - helis or planes. However the Spektrum DX6 is not a full range. Futaba 6EX is a full range for about the same price.

I have my Futaba combo in hand quite soon, and can't wait to upgrade my Brio 10 - zero glitches!!

Hey Low-Q thanks much for the tips... I am mesing arround in the simulator trying different configs. and the difference in kv ans prop size is amaizing... I alredy have the DX7, and the servos are standard, so I will just buy the proper ones, I hope to fly my Brio next week when I found the right config for me, any suggestions?

Have an excelent week end!
