Hard to say how much exactly it is leaking with the prop wash, is enough that when I shut it off it is wet from the throttle arm to the clevis and halfway down the throttle linkage. The few flips it takes to get it started it will produce about a dozen or so drops onto the ground. Well the weather turned crappy overnight so I can't fly today and tomorrow is my last day off for another month. I will try to richen it up some to see if it helps. I did also notice that while running on the ground that there was alot of excess fuel coming back out the velocity stack. Not sure if this is important or not..

Shane

Is the fuel that's leaking out of the V-stack a spray, or is it actually drops? Some back spray is to be expected with a piston ported engine at full throttle. If it's dripping out at idle or half throttle you have another problem. Sounds like your fuel metering needle isn't seating all the way. Could be you have a piece of garbage under it, or the needle isn't fastened to the metering arm. Some needles don't fasten to the arm. The top of the arm just rests on it. If you've been bending the arm at all, chances are it's out of whack. Most of them are set to where the top of the arm is flush with the carb body. If you take the arm off to get the needle out, watch out you don't loose that little spring. They really like to twang on ya!

Thx, Adam for fixin' my engine!

Well, I got my 26engine back today. Now I have to break it in again! Whoopee .

I saw the box of parts at Adams place when I was there, all I can say is if you are going to do it, do it good. And you certainly did. lol

Shane

Yea, ummm...Well you see, I didn't think it was that bad... You should've heard the noise it made. Grrrr-r-r-r clink-clink-clink-POP. And then the prop vibrated off and landed in a THORNBUSH. (Yea, really) My Showtime made it safely to the runway.

I hope it wasn't too much work to repair!

What side do I take off to check the metering needle? And what am I looking for? lol Sorry but just getting my feet wet with gas. I guess it could be a spray but it's hard to say, all I see is a build up of fuel right at the end of the V-stack. It is apparent from idle to full throttle.

OK2Fly, yeah the screw apparently made it past the ring on the piston and into the crankcase. Made short work of the bearings.. I bet it was noisy...

I would suggest reading this: http://tech.flygsw.org/walbro_tuneup.htm It will give you a real good idea of what's going on inside the carb, and how it works....It explains it better than I ever could.

Frank, that is probably the best, easiest to read and understand Walbro dissertation that I've ever read.
Thanks for posting the link. I'll link to this one from my website it's good enough, for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your welcome Bob.

You've got to understand how they work before you can trouble shoot them.

Rob

What changes are you referring too?

RR24,
I don't think Adam is doing away with the 26, I think he is just focusing on the 28. The 26 is one of only a handful of motors in this class that offer the power and weight advantages that it does. And the 28 should fill the gap nicely on frames that are too small for 40cc and need just a tad more than the 26 has. He is in the process of getting ready to move. With his family, his business and his new house, he has been pretty busy. I was just there again today, stripped one of the carb bolts. He thinks that maybe the, (pulse port) the small hole on the one cover is getting to much air across it causing the valve to not work properly. Going to solder a vent line on it and run it into the fuse. I feel bad bugging him, but on the other hand I always spend about $100 every time I go there.

Frank,

Thanks a ton for the link, that will help alot. Feel like I did when I first got into glo motors then into 4-stroke glo.

Thanks Shane

I would like to point this out since no one has mentioned it.. I purchased the Velocity stack from BCMA and the Stock Bolts for the SPE 26CC engine are to short and wont screw into the head. Has anyone else noticed this. I wanted to try it out tommarrow but cant since there too short i'll have to goto the hardware store and see if i cant find longer ones. This should not be so the velocity stack should come with the correct length but i know not everything can be perfect all the time. So i'll continue to use my Tower VS till i can get longer bolts but i though others should be aware of this..

You are correct. This has come up before. I don't have the 26, so I can't be sure, but I suspect that if the engine came with bolts long enough for the velocity stack, they may be too long to be used if you don't want to use a velocity stack. Just guessing though,....

Yes that makes perfect sence but the velocity stack should come with the correct length bolts they only need to be a 1/4 inch longer which isnt much. about how thick the base of the VS is 1/4 inch. i'll go hunt something down in the LHS local hardware Store lol i just like the way the black one looks. it has that flute desighn the one i have looks like a pipe with a 45 Degree angle cut in it. Not very Flute like. I'm thinking the flute desighn will change the way the engine runs. may not eighther way i was looking foward to mounting it. But tommarrow i'm gonna fly it regardless..

I also bought the Velocity stack for my 26. I was able to purchase 5 x 60 mm from a local fastener store in my city. Linkadrip I have a couple of extras email me and I'll send you two. We do not live that far from each other. I am in Ridgecrest CA.
