How would the the BCMA 26cc pull around a Giant Big Stick? A friend has become unable to fly and has a NIB engine, and I have Big Stick sitting around.I dont care about 3D just want a good sport plane with decent performance.

Thanks,

Should be a great combo, i think I saw a video with that in it and it flew quite well actually.

Has anyone had their engines richen up in the air? Mine's doing that, and it seems a little backwards to me.

Yep that sounds like its backwards usually they lean out some i would think. But maybe as you get higher the air gets thinner so it gets richer. Dont really know, I'm trying to figure out why mine started to spit and sputter then die after it gets warmed up. I ran it the other day and it started fine and transitioned fine till it warmed up then it started to cut out and spit and sputter and then just die. So i wait a minute or two then would fire it back up which would be difficult. and it would run fine for a few minutes then get warmed up and do it again. So i took it out of my twist tired of messin with it gonna sell it. its not worth the hassle anymore. my 45CC crrcpro engine never had these issues it fires up and runs great and flys like no bodys bussiness. i wont be buying anymore SPE engines i have had more dead sticks with this engine then any i have owned. I dont really think its the actual engine it is eighther the ignition system or carb that is the problem with these little engines..

i should have just got a Saito 180 for my Twist ...

Pretty cool looks like the engine works great in that plane.

I haven't had any trouble with reliability, but I can't get it to run smoothly. I'm hoping it's just because the engine is still getting broken-in. With hindsight, I probably would've chosen the CRRC 26 instead of the BCMA 26. This engine is just lacking in power, and I'm barely getting 1:1 power to weight in the Showtime. It's a good engine, just a little on the low end for power. I'm still not going back to glow. Gas has spoiled me.

Its sad to say but since i put a gms 120 in my TWISt 150 i havent had anymore issues it fires right up spins a 16X6 prop up to 9000 Rpm and transitions are quick and smooth no spitting or sputtering or cutting out. plane weight dropped 2 LBs and now the plane will actually do 3D manuvers.

a gas engine like this is good for a high winged aircraft or a small plane like that P-47 witch appears to be a 60 size plane. i put a 15X8 prop on the 26CC Engine and ran it and it will spin that prop up to 8000 rpm but the 16X6 would only reach 6800 rpm and the plane would look like it was dragging itself through the air. i tried to get more rpm out of it buy leaning it out and only could acheive a little over 7000. when the engine was new it seemed to have more power but that feel off rather quickly i followed the recomended oil mix and everything for the break in and the engine feels like it still has plenty of compression.Lately with this issue of it getting hot and dieing after running for a few minutes is just plane frustrating to me So something must be wrong i bought a new plug for it from BCMA thinking that was it needs a new plug that when this issue got worse thinki'll go back to the champion plug i had in it.

NEW! BCMA-22 Magnum - $259.00

Available Soon

The BCMA-22 Magnum 1.4ci(22cc) gasoline engine is the smallest engine in our line. This engine swings a XOAR 14x8 propeller at approx. 9000 rpm. The BCMA-22 Magnum weighs a featherweight 36oz including muffler and ignition system!

I will be egar to see what that little engine will be like and if it will really spin the 14X8 prop there at 9000 rpm. The 26CC engine does not spin an 16X8 prop at 9000 Rpm like advertised.. But i'm going to try and fix that i'm going to mount a 16X8 wood Vess prop on it and mount the sucker to a test stand and see if i cant adjust the timing carb whatever tinker, tinker, tinker away at it to get this little engine to scream with that prop may mix some Coleman fuel up 40 to 1 and run that in it and see if it will scream. And if i can ge the darn thing to run right i may keep it and build that sig piper cub and through it in there or save up for that big stick and thow it on that plane. Just depends on how much tinkering and if i can get this engine to perform. if i just get it running right then someone else can have it to tinker with. i'll be watching the thread to see how that other little engine does good luck to all who have these engines. i'll let you know if i melt it. or find anything that may help someone else out..

getting it to run smoothly and reliably it's a gamble sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt just take some patience and time.

Is it ok to have a velocity stack stickin' out of the cowl?

I think I'm having airflow problems. The higher the airspeed of my plane, the richer my engine gets. My guess is that the velocity stack is causing some kind of venturi that's keeping some air from entering the carb, thus causing my engine to act rich during flight.

I'm probably going to drill a hole in the forward part of the stack to see if that helps any.

If your stack is one of the slant cut types, try turning the slant in different positions and see if that helps, as sometimes it does.
