Heres a link for the engine igniton manual from BCMA you have to have acrobatreader to view it it in PDF Format.

http://bcmaengines.com/BCMAEnginesIgnitionManual.pdf

Scroll al the way down to the bottom to see the printable igniton timing degree wheel. there are several other web sites that have them too. but this one is pretty good it has to be cut out and mounted to something solid like cardboard or plastic. i had one before but it got messed up that i used on my CrrCpro engine, I used cardboard.
This time i'm going to use some thin vanere wood i have that came off the back of an old peice of furnature. Anyhow i use 3M spary to glue it to the wood or whatever. of course you have cut the wood or whatever it is your using to the same dimentions as the wheel and cut a hole for the prop bolt so it can be mounted to the crankshaft.

Cant find the pointer i had, so i'll have to hit the dollar tree for some spring clips to make another one..

probably everyone who is having issues with there engine should check the timing. i never thought to do it but i live at 4000 feet above sea level so tuning an engine were i live is always difficult they have to be near perfectly tuned or they dont run very well. i'm sure these engines at lower altitudes and back east were it's more humid, put out more power then they do here at a high altitude in a Dry climate.

I checked the timing on my Crrcpro as soon as i got it and made adjustments to the timing and have never had any issues with it. It has run like a top from day one and everyone complained about that engine and i've had it since 2005 when they frist came out it came with my League extra 330L and it still has the origianle ignition and muffler and has always ran great. but it came from china and i was making sure everything was right on it before flying it . I never even gave it a thought with this engine another lessoned learned chek the timing on your new engine if it you cant figure out what it is and you have done everything else and it still runs like crap.

Well just have to see how much more dialed in i can get this engine.

How far off was the timing on your CRRC?

Ok i went out after my last post and took a washer off the top bolt of the hall effect sensor and moved the sensor as far up as it would go in the slots and tighned it back down and this is the results.

Very cool! The timing wheel will help you get it zeroed in for maximum power as well as easy starting. You are definately in the ball park. Was it hard to start after moving the timing?

Andy

Yes it is still stubborn to get it started after it cools down but i ran it for 15 minutes then shut it down for 5 minutes then turned it back on and it fired right back up. so i then let it cool for 30 minutes and went back out and it was hard to start again. i choked it till it burped some then relesed the choke and flipped it 5 or 6 times and it fired up have to let it idel for a couple minutes before it will transition smoothly if i try to throttle up to fast after starting it dies and i have to flip it again 4 or 5 times to get it to fire back up.

Don't worry about the engine dying if you throttle up too fast after starting. It seems like all the gassers I have seen are cold natured for the first minute or so. Someone told me that if you don't have to let it warm up to transition, the low speed needle is too rich. Glad you got her going!

A timing wheel is in effect a degree wheel which is attached to the crank and used the set the ignition timing of the engine.

After reading a ton of this thread, I went to the BCMA site. There is NO 26 or 28 cc engine. Only a 22. I read a post from Chinna that made the 28 sound very good but where is it? There is a 42 called BCMA 42 Pro but no MT 42. Bigger MT engines are there. So, I learned a lot about something that no longer is for sale. It seems that Cermark is selling an SPE 26 which has the same specs as the 26 that BCMA used to sell. Is that true?

I would swear that BCMA had the SPE engines on the website a short time ago but I may be wrong.

Trying to answer my own question I found this in **** forum right after I posted my question.

MLD-28S or MLD28S or MLD28 comes as side mount muffler version. It is now available. The "R" or MLD-28R or MLD28R will be available in July. The R version is the rear muffler mount version.

Additional information:
MLD-28S is not a SPE-28. In fact there is no SPE-28. As of today;
MLD => MLD-28S
SPE => SPE-26, SPE-43 and SPE-40 has been discontinued, but still serviced as of May 2008. SPE-43 is the official replacement (parts are not fully interchangeable) for SPE-40.

Peace,
Steven Chao,
Cermark

BCMA was selling SPE 26CC engines and have now stopped selling them and others and changed there inventory.. But the SPE that is spoke of inthis thread is the same engine that Cermark is selling..

Heritage rRider:

It looks like you are with Cermark, according to the way you made your signature. Trying to stear people away from Adam and to Cermark?
