I am just getting into Gas engines and am confused on how to size an engine for a plane. How do you determine the CC's that are right for a plane. For example, I was talking to some of the old timers at my club about the Goldberg Extra kit that has a wingspan of 68 inches and is rated as a 60 - 90 size plane. Some say this is a good candidate for a 26 cc. Others say it should have a 20cc.

My 68" span Goldberg Extra flies great with a Ralph (RC Ignitions) converted to EI G23 at exactly 10 lbs.

This should be a nice combo. Seagull makes a slightly heavier, more solid bird, so the 42 is ideal by weight. Post pics if the install, if you can.

I convert my hand made Diablotin Compact (65" (1650mm) span, split compact fuselage) with Dzy26cc to 50cc version. New engine is a MT50i. Many lead on the tail, new engine box, new engine antivibrating mount - new FunFly complete!

new weight: 6100g (old - 4680)
thrust: 10kg (after only 6 fuel tanks) (old thrust - 6kg)
prop: 22x8 wood (old prop 17x6 fiberglass)

Very good plane has turned out! Hangs on 1/2 courses of the throttle stick. I like it!

In our flight place we have opened a new direction of aircraft modelling - the hotroad-planes.

MT50i very nice gas engine for Diablotin's - a carb placing is very much combined with a structure of a cowl

PS: Sorry my bad english(web-translated)

Your English is fine! Sounds like a cool plane! We haven't heard a lot of news on the MT engines yet. Thanks for the feedback!

What a great world we live in to be able to hear about new airplanes in Russia from real enthusiasts. We have a really enthusiastic 3D pilot here in Palm Coast Florida that is from Russia. He is an electrician, a great modeler (can build and repair with the best) and is becoming a really good pilot. We are happy to have him in our club.

Send us some pictures so we can see what you are building.

I'm sure our English-Russian translation sounds weird! Lets see some pictures.
