The belt seems to be a good level of tightness, like you guys described (resistance gets high at midline).

I'm putting tape inside the bladeholders so that it's a snugger fit for the blades. Before, the blades could move a bit vertically, but now they can't (they can still swing side-to-side just fine). I'm guessing that caused some problems.

The tape will wear out pretty quickly I think. Can you find some thin metal or plastic washers that fit? This shouldn't be an issue with stock blades unless your blade holders have become very worn or damaged.

The spindle is the shaft that is horizontal/perpendicular to the main shaft and is the shaft between the main blade grips. They generally are mounted on the spindle and then screwed onto it using hex bolts. I can't remember if the W60 differs from this standard.

Vega, loosen the boom fitting on the case and pull it out then retighten or slide out the taill assy a little. I generally do it from the frame.

The spindle between the blade grips is also called the feathering shaft.

I see the spindle now, thanks for the explanation. Note that I have the metal head upgrade.

I noticed since I got the 60 that the blade holders could rock back and forth a little bit. This probably had something to do with the instability. I took apart the top section of the head (the spindle and blade holders) and noticed the threaded ends where the blade holders attached are somewhat worn down (partially stripped), so those red ring screws that secure the blade holders don't tighten well enough. I kept trying to tighten those screws but they keep slipping on the threads. I think I'm going to try to put a bit of teflon tape to give the screw more to grab on to. I can't really use threadlocker there because the blade holder needs to be able to rotate at that joint (as you guys probably know, there's a bearing and everything in there).

There's so many issues with the current rotor head, I'm tempted to just buy a new one or revert back to the original head.

Hi everyone i have decided to actually say something on this forum. i have read from the very beginning and got to about page 60 when my helicopter arrived in the post. i was prepaired for the inevitable broken tail servo / bad positioning / bad electronics and bad brushed motor...

I seem to have only had the problem with the underpowered / heavy motor so have just changed that to an elf 4200kv with the 30a esc. not flown it yet as i have a little bit of a wobble.. checked and believe its the flybar thats a little out of whack. ordered and on way. then i can continue with the hovering and learning..

just wanted to thank soneebee for all the advice he has unknowingley given me in the last few weeks.. when ever i have searched for a solution to a problem i always found a post by him explaining a solution

so.. anyway.. just wanted to introduce myself and proudly announce that i have been infected with the RC heli bug.. And I dont want a cure!

I have just bought a Venom Night Ranger 3dxl which I'm told is a Walkera 60 just re-baged if that is the case then I can tell you it's a very nice pice of work and I'm very pleased with it, although on my 4th flight when I came in to land OOPS the rotor blades just cought one of the wifes pot plants, I have repaired it just sorting out the blade pitch set up.
But I do think it's a nice Heli.

bigaird,
The best advice I can give you is to look up a site called Walkera China, once there look in the section called Foreign high-level Helicopter. It has great information for beginners related to setup (RTF, out of the box).
Also look up Radd's School of Rotary Flight, it has an excellent flight training process.
Good Luck.
