Hey Del,

Concerning the TX MODE #1 (right throttle) To change the TX to MODE #2 (throttle on the left) there is also a thread on the Dragonfly #36 forum that explains it. In short take the back cover off, change the hardware spring & tension metal piece from right to left side. Then unplug the two center connector plugs from the main board and switch them. Lastly, move the #5 micro switch on the back of the TX to the right (on) to reverse the servo that was switched. I hope this helps. I have switched 2 #36's, the two #60's I received from HK are MODE 2, which I told the seller when I paid for the units.

Heine,

I know there are sites out there that explain the formulas and even the Hacker site has formulats and pinion combos.

Oh right I said it backward more teeth more head speed.

I had that motor, (funny when you look at the link the top piture looks red and the bottom one looks that puple pink ish color.) That s the one that burned on me and they sent me the gold one. They said the gold one is more expensive and better. It works good too.

The TX's are different if you have the new 7 channell for the number 60.
They cannot be switched. I had the same problem and they sent me the instructions to switch them but it could not be done.
They agreed and sent me a new TX.

yahell,

Tp2100 is great battery 75.00 but then you would needto buy a battery charger for 50.

Just stay stock till you decide your hooked for good.

Hi again,

Regarding the pinion/motor issue.

I'm a bit pissed now.
I got answer from Walkera. They put the wrong motor in the box. The motor I got was the wk-ws-28-005 with a KV rating of 1900 (meant for the Walkera 49 and not the 60).
They should have put the wk-ws-28-003 in the box. This one has a KV rating of 3100. It really shows their quality control - or lack of it.
I wrote back to Walkera explaining that I expect them to send me the correct motor free of charge.
I got 3 sets with wrong motors, so I really expect them to solve the problem.
Now I just worry if the 40A ESC they sent me will work with the new motor.

I am also thinking of just go to a local shop and get the allign 430 motor.
Will the Walkera 40A brushless ESC would work with the Align motor or would I need to get an Align ESC also?

Br

Update to the above mail:

I got another mail from Walkera. It seams that there is a new 60 on the way to the market.
I'm not sure about the motor, as Walkera now claims that the motor I got can be used anyway.

See the mails below and judge by yourself: (Read from bottom and up)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dear Heine,
Our expert says our wk-ws-003 is being under testing ,it is our new product for special use for our new HM60#,not for your HM60#,so pls don't worry about it.
Pls excuse me for my poor english, make you misunderstand me.WK-ws-28-005 can use for HM60 of yours, now our new product HM60# has not been put
into market.40A speed controller can work with all 380 brushless motor and 180brushless motor, pls don't worry about it.
Thanks and hope you have a nice weekend!
Best wishes!
yours,
Lucy

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Lucy,

Thanks for your mail.

I'm sorry to hear you put the wrong motor in the box.
I ordered 3 sets of Walkera 60 with brushless setup.

You sent me the 3 Walkera 60 and the 3 sets of 40 A esc and 3 sets of brushless 380L 1900 (wk-ws-28-005).
So it looks like your factory sent me the wrong engine. It should have been the wk-ws-28-003.

How do we fix this?

I expect you can send me 3 sets of wk-ws-28-003 free of charge. Please also send the 14T, because it was also missing in the shipment.
I can then send the wk-ws-28-005 motors back to you.
You sent me the 40A esc. Will this work with the wk-ws-28-003 motor or only with the wk-ws-28-005?

I am looking forward to your answer and hope for a quick solution.

All the best.

Kind regards,

Heine

Dear Heine,
Good day!
Today i have consult our expert about the gear, the 380L 1900( wk-ws-28-005) brushless motor has 15 teech, not 14 teech.
This number cann't be used in HM60#,it should be 380L 3100 ( wk-ws-28-003) brushless motor.and it allocate 14 teech.
And our expert says 380L 1900( wk-ws-28-005) only used in HM 49#.
It is a technical problem for me,so i don't which one to use,pls excuse me.and also don't know which helicopter you need to use for the motors.
So i tell you about this, hope it can help you in time.
HM60 can use 380 brushless motor. The number is 380L 3100 ( wk-ws-28-003) gear 14 teech,so the gear is right for you,but not the brushless motor.
Kind regards!
Respectfully yours,
Lucy

Heine, it shoud work.

When Walkera replaced my walkera brushless motor they sent the gold one. Let me know if your new one is gold when you get it. I think the esc they sent was only a 30A esc. But I junked it and bought an $85.00 Phoenix 35A.

I have the computer link for the Phoenix and just felt better about programing it and being sure it was set to brake off and the ability to turn on governor mode.

When I finish building my Trex I'll know how the Align motor is. I got an align esc with it. I have not really looked at it much except to solder the connections on. but it is the new motor they ship with the TRex. I think it is a 4330 Kv or something.

JD,

Ok I ordered the DX6 and it should be here wednesday, cool. What do I need to set it up? Did you switch out the servos too? Did you have to program the ESC? Did you just change out the receiver? Any tips you can tell me about setting this up so I will be trouble free? LOL

Thanks all is appreciated.

Argos,

I assume you are just keeping the walkera esc. That should be fine I guess. I don't know how to program the Walkera ESC, I don't even know if it can be programed, any way it has no effect on changeing out the TX/RX. If the Walkera esc is working for you then I would say its fine.

The second part of the manual is for helicopters. Go there.

First it just needs to be told your doing a heli setup and name it and change it to ccpm.
Those instructions are clear in the manual. plugging in your servo's is clear also.

I will tell you my setup for which servos I had to reverse if any and swash percentages ( I think I left them all at 60%). maybe a picture also. whippee

Yes I am using the walkera servo's. I am keeping the 4 that came with the DX6 as spares.

I think I will change out a couple more of my helis this weekend to DX6, I have three recievers. I will do one of my showguns, both walkera 60's and my TREX. I guess I need one more receiver. Another $60.00+tax.

Delboy,

Im not familiar with your RX TX but it should be better than the Walkera stuff probably.

The motor and ESC sound real good if not to much power. I think that is the same as the stuff I have for my TREX.

Consultjdm,

Walkera is not sending me a new motor. They changed their minds about the "wrong" motor and claims now that it should work.
I doubt it since the KV rating is only 1900. Ofcourse it's a matter of gear, but the pinion required would be too bit to fit. (20T or so)

I'm seriously considering the Align 420, but do you think the Walkera 40A ESC would work?

Have a nice WE.

JD,

Thank you for your help and time. This would save me a bunch of guessing and chancing with my setup. If you want when you have time tell me how you set up your radio and I will mimic your setup, since they will be identical other than the ESC, what kind do you have? Maybe I should buy a new motor and esc, have any suggestions for the Walkera? Lots of power that you are sure would work and fit? Reversing, pitch curve, and anything else you think I might need. I wont have mine until next week, so no hurry. You can email me the info if you would rather.

Thank you again.

that should be plenty of Amps.

I'm using 35A. I would think a 30A would be enough thats what they sent me with that motor.

JD

Tell em it burnt up they'll send ya the new gold one. But I bet it does burn up when you try it, they told me it was a little weak for the 60.

After you get the new one then just send it back.

Argos, I use the castle creations Phonix 35 ESC's but I am not saying you need one.

I bought the programer for my EF showgun that I put a phoenix 35Amp ESC in and so it was just easier for me to get another and know what I had.

I will let you know on the setup.

Consultjdm,

Thanks for the advice. What was the KV rating of your fried motor? The 380 comes in 1900, 2500, 3000 and 3100 models.
What was the pinion size? Mine is 3.17. Maybe yours was 2.3 and 3100KV?

Hi all,

Just finished the refit.

Align 400LF 3300 KV
Align 35A brushless ESC with governer mode.
11 toothed pinion.
Futba GY401 gyro

Throttle curve 0% 75% 75% (governer mode on)
Gyro set @ 70% in AVCS delay set 80.

I still have to adjust linkages,to get a move neutral hover.

This bird flies a lot better than #40.

Bye for now, hopping the wind dies down so I can go out and crash sorry, fly my new new #60.

Have you checked the charge on the battery? Once the voltage drops below a point the esc wont spin the motor.

JD,

What motor did you get? Anyone have a motor other than the walkera brushless setup and working on a 60?

Let us know the details and how it works....Teeth pinion, KV, Make, Model.

Consultjdm,

If you had the 14T...that would be a 2,3 mm pinion meaning that the brushless motor you got was the 380M wk-ws-20-001 with a KV rating of 3100. That's the only walkera brushless motor with a 2,3 shaft.

Tomorrow I will order a 15T align pinion and try to install the 1900 KV motor. I don't expect it to have enough headspeed, but I will try it anyway. If it doesn't work I will get the Align 430 and pray that it will work with my Walkera 40A ESC.

I will let you know how it goes,

Btw. Anyone knows how many teeth is on the main gear of our #60?
Also do you know how many T is on a T-rex. I wonder which pinion I should get if I buy an Align 430 kv 3550.
