I have two of these and they are great! Make SURE you get the 75mAh ground frequency....channels 61-90. I'm really not familiar with any other ground transmitters that operate by "sticks".

Hope this helps,
Jason

Just out of curiousity, could one get a six channel radio to run the Tamiyas (not that I can afford one yet, but). I was thinking of playing around with different electrics for my HL, which I would want to use the 6 channel for. If the radio would work with a Tamiya that would be great so that I could swap it over later...you know when I could actually afford one.

Futaba Skysport 4, 6YG75, and, FUT7CAP all come in 75mhz flavors. The old 6x is also a good 6ch ground radio. It is possible to
retune some of the air radios to ground frequencies but this means sending it back to the mfg and more $$. Becareful with the
7CAP 75mhz as it comes with a R138DP PCM Rx as I have found out. Outside of Futaba, I see Hitec laser 6 and the new spectrum
radios are also popular with numerous people online. Here's some more help from Willy and Frag armor.

Stang I believe the stock Hen Long radio is a 5 channel AM.
L-track/R-track/turret/gun elevation/fire/
I'm sure a new radio could work if you added new escs.
But that kinda defeats the purpose since you can put the money
towards a Tamiya. Maybe try the german forum or maruigroup
to see if anyone has done it with just a receiver and stock PCB?
Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

I already checked into reqorking the entire electronics. It would end up costing roughly 400.00. 180 for the radio I was looking at, 60 each for 2 esc's, and there was something else that eludes me right now. I already decided I wasn't going to sink that much into the HL. I was just thinking about it for later on. ....like after I get a Tamiya Tiger.

Guys:

Beware of which radio you buy. The guys at Danville have reported that the PCM radios do NOT like the Tamiya DMD's.

You'll need an AM or FM radio, or if it has PCM, make sure it is switchable from PCM to FM without depot-repair. The Futaba 4VWD 4VF, 4YG, & 6YG all come with FM receivers. The VF's & YG's even come with the R127DF Receiver, so if you get a 6 or 7 channel radio later, you've for a receiver that can take it extra channels. Just make sure the Receiver is an R???F or DF, the F signifies its FM, the D signifies its dual conversion.

Hope that helps you choose a radio.
