Hey guy's...make room, I'm coming over from the Warhead side! I'm done with that truck! Its Revo all the way. funny thing is I have a buddy that has the 2.5 and its like NEW, I mean he broke it in...thats it! And he offered it to me for $200 a year ago and I said "no thanks" I'm getting a warhead. I know, I know, what was I thinking? He's just the spending type that doesnt play. Anyhow my grandson's got an Emaxx and I should have learned from one look at it that Traxxas is the way. Bash on -KP

Happy New Year!!!
Just slapped some cash down for a set of RPM arms and carriers in white. I'll be dying them piss yellow like Bills. REVO's not even here yet!!! Oh well got about two feet of snow on the ground it wouldn't matter anyhow.
BTW nice web site Bill...It was entertaining and informative, I'll definitely refer back from time to time. Semper Fi from a former LSB troop and current 173rd fighter wing nut. -KP

Hey guys,

I am new to the R/C World, well I have 1 rc truggy atm. If thats what you want to call it. It is a Redcat Tsunami.. The only problem is when I got into this I just looked at the hobby as a whole, not the trucks and cars. (Hence the Redcat). Well I am thinking about a new RC truck I want something bigger and well just flat out better. I am looking at the Revo 3.3, Warhead Evo, or Savage X. I am just a basher.. I just take it to the park and run around in a field at WOT and watch it fli and cartwheel. I also have this gravel pit next to my job I like to take it to, but the rocks are a bit on the large side and it tends to not work out so well for the Redcat...

But I cant say that much bad stuff about it, it has tought me how to work on a 1/10 size truck. And most of the stuff that broke was due to me hitting a lightpole at a WOT run down my road, and a mail box on another WOT run down the same road. I have broke so many parts I forgot how many tims I replaced them... But lets just say I could have bought a revo with the money I put into my Tsunami...

I am looking for something "FUN" that I can play with all day and it not break everytime I put it on its lid... I am not much on upgrade untill it breaks.. My wife needs a reason to replace parts....

Well it seems that I am getting long winded so Thanks and hope to read a replay soon!!

Hey guys,

I got a REVO 3.3 on order and I'am stoked!! I started reading ash's thread from the beginning and it's kind of surreal when you realized that it been two years that this tread has been flowing. Extremely impressive!

I'm on page 35 of 106 and have a ways to go before I'm caught up, but there's definely a lot of knowledge that is being shared and noobs like me definely appreciate it. I plan of racing my REVO hot in heavy once the race season starts up in Feburary.

Any advice on whatever would be appreciated. I'm new to nitro so I have a steep learning curve, but fortunely I'm trainable

I should receive my REVO around Tuesday next week and will have to "steal" some time away from the wife and kids to break it in. Truth be told, I'm still trying to figure out how I'm gonna explain how $500 disappeared from the bank account. HIGH ADVENTURE!!

I disassembled my diffs today for maintenance and upon build up I feel some resistance in the ring and pinion gear mesh. Its smooth for about 2/3 of a turn then it grinds a bit. Is this OK of should it be fixed?

Looking for some help here guys.

My Revo has been sitting for about a month or two. When I put it away last I was having a problem. It would start up fine at first........then after about a 5 to 10 minutes of running.....it would stall at idle and become increasingly harder to start each time...until it would not start at all. I thought maybe it was just due to the cold weather and like i said....I have not run it in over a month. Well yesterday igot it all ready and took it out for a run.......I took some advice from the LHS and ran it a little richer and used a hotter plug due to the cold weather. Well it ran a little better but ended up with the same result.......the first 5 to 10 minutes it runs great........then stalls at idle and gets harder and harder to start. I'm thinking its a tuning problem and was going to return all the needles back to factory settings......but figured I would ask here first.

Any ideas??

One other thing. My EZ start is not working. Its turning the motor over but not heating the glow plug. It might be a short in the wire. My question If I remove the glow plug and hook it up to the wire while its out of the motor.......should it still glow when i hit the button on the EZ start??

No, the plug needs to be grounded to complete the circuit and glow the plug... it will not light out of the car unless you ground it well

One of the problems I have seen with the Ez-Start2 systems is the connections get pushed into the housing. I have a few Traxxas products 2 Revo 3.3's, T-Maxx 3.3, T-Maxx Pro, Nitro 4-Tec 3.3, Nitro Rustler 2.5, and 3.3, out of all the Ez-Starts I have one that goes to the T-Maxx Pro I like the best. Wires are all good and I don't have to worry about the connections being pushed into the housing. The Ez-Start2 is good for about 50 or so starts before you have to fix one of the connections it would seem. I have been using the Ez-Start to start all my rides for the last 8 years+. My son uses the 2 seeing it is easier for him to connect. Look inside the housing for one of the pins being pushed in. Hope this helps a little.

James

I read back to use 7K in the front and 5k silicone in the rear for diff lube but Traxxas info is 10.000 to 30.000? BIG difference. Can someone clear this up?

I am no expert however I have 2 Revo's because I use one for racing and one for play. The one that I do racing with I have changed a bunch of things. One I don't have a Center Diff, I have the Steel Forward Only Conversion I am running Front 20k and Rear 10k. 16bell and 38Spur. with 40 series Proline Crimefighters. In my fun only I have it set up so I could race if I wanted however I have the 15bell and 40Spur I have a Center Diff and here is that setup. Front 30k Center 500k and Rear 5k. I would only race on a high to medium traction track that is not to rough. Running the stock rims and tires.

Questions about Jumps I love the Revo sure it is a little tricky when it comes to jumps nothing that a little throttle or brake cannot fix, It is something that you have to get used to. I have a Ae GT and GT2 for the 2 wheel races and they seem to just FLY every time no matter how I hit the jumps.

That's what I thought...7 & 5k oil is too thin, I'll drain them and go with thicker. Thanks.

Well the issue is that it really depends on how you are gonig to drive your Revo. I have tried them all and for my racing one I have a Solid front CVD's seeing I break the others. Even the 80.00 ones.

Well for back yard fun and mild bashing the stockers are probably OK then. I just wondered what I would spend money on when one or more broke in the future, stock again or CVD. thanks for the info.-KP

Yes....great fun...but...with only 2.5 gallons of fuel and 1 year on it.... I went through: 4 starter one way clutches $11/ea, 1 side shaft $5, 1 exhaust header pipe $80, 1 conrod/piston/sleeve assembly $100, 1 engine clutch assembly+slipper clutch stuff $35, 7 glowplugs $4/ea, and now looking at a throttle servo #2055. I'm not racing, jumping, or abusing it...just trying to have fun in the back fields and winter packed snow in the sliding areas...WHAT IS WITH THE HIGH MAINTENANCE!

Hey I bought a revo 3.3 a couple weeks ago and I was just wondering what a good pipe would be for low to mid torque? Another question is when im hill climbing and it hits second gear it really slows down so is there a close ratio gear set for the revo? I dont need alot of top speed I just want alot of power for bashing.

I you want more power I would install a smaller clutch bell or put a bigger spur gear on. that way you will have more bottom end power. but watch it the front end will be up in the air more then on the ground.
