Default 2.4 ghz module

I have seen posts on the RC forums that you are working on a 2.4 GHz module
for the Optic 6. If this is true, will it be compatible with the Prism 7X and
the Eclipse 7?

I was thinking about buying a DX6, but if I can plug your module into my Prism
7X, I would rather do that. I don't need the 7th channel for all planes, so
if it only gives me 1-6, that would be OK, though 7 channels would be nice.

Should I buy the DX6 or wait?

Best Regards,
Ed Anderson

The 2.4Ghz module/RX is in the works but I cannot comment as to exactly when it will be available; we are getting close but you never know in this business when the monkey wrench may come flying in!

Yes, it will fit all existing Hitec (and Futaba) transmitters that use the current module. All channels up to 9 will be available.

Sorry, I really can't make any more comments at this time so no probing please.

Mike.

Mike,

What is meant by "all channels" in this context. Is this spread spectrum? How many planes can be in the air at the same time using this system ?

Thanks,

Felix

Mike is probably referring to support for a transmitter with up to a maximum of 9 channels.

Correct, it is a 9 channel (not available frequencies) system. As for any other details... We're not prepared to discuss them at this time.

Mike, I know you can't answer this but I thought this would be the best place to ask.
Can anyone guess...and I know that's all it would be...what a module and receiver will cost?
Thanks!

Mike, does this only apply to Hitec?
What about Multiplex?

Until it is released it's all a guessing game, so I'll make a guess.

Not that it applies to Hitec in any way but here's some speculation based on the competition.

The Spektrum 6 channel park flyer receiver is $60 and some of the 2 & 3 channel surface receivers are about $100. Their 2 & 3 channel surface transmitter modules sell for $110 to $130.

I guess I'd expect a full range 9 channel receiver to cost between $120 & $200 and a matching transmitter module to be $220 to $260 (about double what the short range stuff with less channels sells for).

I hope this stuff comes out soon and works great. I hope "everyone" gets rid of all of their 72 mhz equipment. Then I'll be able to fly on channel 49 with no fear of being shot down by another transmitter.

This is still the most exciting R/C topic as far as I'm concerned. Is the ANY new 2.4 GHz scuttlebut?

Mike,

How is this coming? I have the money all set aside. My Prism 7X and my Futaba 9C are asking when they get to go 2.4 GHz. I think they have Spectrum envy.

Please don't make me buy a DX7.

Mike,
I'll ask along with Ed as well plus this. Is anything forthcoming from Hitec in a replacement TX with the features of a Futaba 9 Super or JR 9303? I love my Eclipse 7, but not having dual elevator capability really stinks. Bought an Optic 6 just to find out that it did not have enough channels to fly my gasoline powered Edge.

I don't have specific delivery date information at this time, BUT a new TX is in the mill as well as the 2.4gHz module. Time will tell the tale...

There are many people already converting their radios to DX6 with DX6 components. It is super easy as I have already done it myslf with my Optic 6. Other radios I've seen converted are JRs and a Hitec Eclipse.

The wonderful thing about the DX7 is that people who upgraded from a DX6 are willing to get rid of it cheap to help pay for the $350 DX7. I bought my DX6 from a LHS for $50, gutted the one part I needed and made the upgrade. Super easy, superfast.

I used do-it-yourself servo connectors. This enables to go back to FM anytime.

Update: The pathetic response from Hitec and Futaba regarding 2.4Gig technology is ridiculous! 2.4Gig is NOT a new technology and you folks are now years behind the curve! You are supposed to be leaders in the industry and you have failed us!

I'm moving to another brand.
