Ok.. so here is the story

jan 23..ordered a hummingbird v3 rtf from tower.
jan 26..received hummingbird, opened box read instructions, watched video, charged battery.
jan 27..installed training gear, installed battery attempted flight no luck.
at around 20% throttle heli spins in fast circle, never left the floor yet
jan 28..read instructions again, watched video again..still spinning wheeee!
tried adjusting tail rotor trim all the way better but still donuts
jan 29..heli started to act possessed, would not initialize sometimes, would change indicator
lights but would not move.
jan 30..started to fly on its own randomly going to 100% throttle and trying to kill me. turned
my back on it once and it took off into the ceiling broken tail rotor!
jan 31..called tower to report problem was told to call century direct
called century, spoke to antonio who told me not his problem, spoke angrily to antonio
was told to mail the 5 in 1 reciever back for testing.
feb 3.. called century to check on 5 in 1 reciever, was told it was bad we'll send you a new one!
awesome could not wait!
feb 4..
feb 5..
6
7
.....
feb 13.. finally recieved new 5 in 1 reciever! ok
installed new reciever , plugs would not fit in hole.. circuit board was crooked trimmed
hole slightly made it fit.

it was then i realized there was no crystal in the new reciever. i had left the crystal in
the one i sent back.
feb 14.. called century told antonio the problem..he said ok
feb 20.. called century antonio not in, no one else could help.. cried a little

well today is mar 4 and as of today i still do not have a crystal
i called tower and they told me they quit carrying the hummingbird due to complaints
when and if i recieve the new crystal the whole thing is going back to tower.

i realize problems are to be expected but for the love of god i just wanna fly!!!!!!!

Nice recording of events!

I hear the Elite 3D is a minimum to start at.

I like separate components myself. Separate speed controller, receiver, gyro, etc... I've never had good luck with another motor driving the tail either. Gotta be servo-linkage-pitch controlled.

Keep it simple.

I have had 4 of the electric tail helicopters. The last one was a honey bee with collective pitch. I never could get any of the tails to live long with 3 cell LIPO packs. I went to the Hummingbird 3D pro.

I am still getting it set up. It was giving me difficulties and I went to Antonio for help. I actually drove 4 hours to meet him and then he couldn't fix it. His heart was in the right place and he tried, but no luck.

Since he worked on it I have put in the belt drive kit for the tail and some of the "Bling" parts. These actually help this heli fly better. (More range and tighter.) IMHO.

Tried to fly it yesterday and one of my cheap servos let go. Saved the heli but went out and replaced all of the servos. I am now using Futaba 3107 servos. We'll see tomorrow.

Huh? Who at Tower told you this? Tower still has the Century line listed with the V4 and the Swift EP kit due soon.

Are you certain they were talking about the HummingBird ?
