Status: offline 		I think one could easily use a OS 1.20AX or saito 1.25 in the 3DH 62" Osiris.
There is PLENTY of high quality, balsa and Ply in that plane....
Stick a Hyde mount on it, and NO issues at all....

All one would need to do, is spray some clear, on the cowl. It isn't resistant petrolium products....
It is 400$ bones....
I can pick up a COMPARF Intergral white version for 1040$ (need to add shipping)....and have a competition ready 2M pattern ship....

I am interested in the possibility of a 2M Osiris....
3Dh is very good at getting planes finished and ready to go out, within there stated due dates....
I remember another ARF company that said they would have a 2M pattern ready to go last year.....Even had a article in the AMA
Rag....and they said "It will be released by the time you read this article" never happened....

I am guessing 3DHS will have it out when they said they would. April???

Status: offline 		I broke my fuselage on a stupid landing. Tower doesn't sell new Venus II airplanes but the do sell ever part of the airplane. I bought a replacement fuselage and tail assy. They have wings, canopies etc.

Maynardrupp,

Yeah, I ordered up a canopy and wheel pants for one before buying the extra Venus II kit.  However, when those parts run out it is over for the Venus II; that is unless Great Planes considers re-introducing as it might make good business sense.  Great flying and simply too get together for the price.  One of the guys in NSRCA District 3 campaigns a Vemus II in Intermediate tin the Southeast USA and does very wel with it.

Status: offline 		Just finishing up my Venus II. (Funny how the last 5% of the work takes me 20% of the time!) I showed it to a more experienced club member and he thought that the book throws on the elevator (9/16" high rate, 3/8" low) would not have enough authority when landing. I did read thru this entire thread last year and do not remember anyone having any issues with these throws. So, are the book throws enough to land it?? How about low rates?

I have a Saito 125 and plan to run a 16x6 prop to start. AUW is 8.5#.

Status: offline 		I set the throws on mine at what I thought would work, did not do any measurements at all. I thought that the factory measurements were inadequate, so I up'ed them slightly, but it was ball-park, no real measurement, but it was more than what the factory recommended. With expo, it flys and lands like a dream.

Status: offline 		I flew mine on the recommended low rates and the throws were more than adequate for all situations. I did have the balance point slightly aft of the suggested location. I believe the current owner of the airplane is using those throws, too.

Just wanted to comment on the throw rates for a Venus II, as some are asking about it.

I have built 4 Venus II's and have thousands of flights altogether with the 4. I also lent my Venus II to a friend and newcommer all last summer. He tought himself well on the Venus and is now flying a 27%. I have trained numerous people on it as well. In my opinion the rates the manual calls for are perfect!! I would not change a thing! The elevator will have extreme authority on high rates. Also I have the CG right in the middle of the range the manual calls for and it is perfect as well. I also have to say of all the models i have built the instructions for the Venus are the best i've seen, although i do make a few modifications myself.

For anybody who intends to fly glow power in this size range and have not bought a Venus II, do yourself a favor and get one! As you try different planes in other size ranges, you will remember the Venus to be the finest model in this range.

Status: offline 		Well mines done.....except for putting a nice pretty pink patch where I put 1.25oz of lead about 12 inches in front of tail wheel.  Makes it slightly tail heavy with an empty tank of fuel and a wood zinger prop.  And a "peeved" off bumble bee decal on the rudder.

Hopefully  break in engine/maiden it Tuesday.  Long range forecast calls for more rain

Because there was a built in shelf for me to stick it on, and it would'nt be outside of the airplane; plus room for my fat fingers to get it in there.  Plus it will be easy to get to if I need to add or take some out later down the road.

It was just 3/4 ounce when balancing upside down at the tailwheel with a wood prop.  However when I switched to an 16x8 APC prop, it was still a little nose heavy.  The half ounce extra 12 inches forward made it neutral, then the 3/4ounce at the same spot made slightly tail heavy.  I guess with fuel in it, it will be slightly nose heavy.  I just tried to strike a balance point starting with a wood prop and then if I decide to go APC it would not have that much effect.  So upside down and right side up balance is at 6 1/2 inches forward of LE at the fuse.

And I can tell you the person that bought it (me) is really happy with it.  And a small part of me is wishing I could bail on the Mothers Day activities to spend the day flying it!

I thought I read someplace that Great Planes was going to come out with a large Sequence to replace the Venus II. Does anybody have some additonal info about that rumor?

I was told they have no plans to replace the Venus.  Pattern is a very small segment of the market in comparison to parkflyers or 3d birds.   If they did it would bet it is electric.  The Vanquish is on its way but its electric only as is all of the new releases will be probably be from now on.

Status: offline 		I have a nice venus for sale bought it 2 years ago and flew it maybe a dozen times, my eyesight will not let me fly the way I want, so its for sale, I know the problem is cant ship it and gas is to high to drive, nobody in the club flys pattern, would like to see it go to someone that good put her to good use.....thanks ...dan
