Sorry, My wife took my camera on vacation, and it came back in 10 or more parts!!! I've only had 8 flights on mine. (Didn't get mine put together till late fall), The only thing I'm having trouble with, is the muffler on the darn thing. Blue locktite didn't work, neither did red. So I went to a small amount of J.B. Weld, but haven't got to fly it yet with that on there! But it should hold it on rather well! But everything else is good and tight!

    Good Luck!

Hey Guys... Got the 3w75usi mounted today and the cowl cut. Was it ever nice to go through these threads and get a few pointers! Ordered a Mejzlik 24x10 3 blade today from D/A. And Dave Brown is cutting a 3 blade spinner for me. Starting to get close now!!! Want to place an order for some batteries now. I am running Hitec Digitals all the way around i am using Hs-5645mg's and a standard hs-325hb for throtle. What is a good pack to use for this combo? I was loking at a 2700 NIMH 6v pack for r/x and a 1700 4.8v nicad ignition pack... What do you think??? I read past posts and saw guys using 2 packs. What is the advantage of this? Is it twice the capacity AND if a pack should fail you are backed up? Any input is much appreciated!!!!! Thanks. Dave

    Get 2 1900 maH Li-Ons form Duralite !!!

Thats what I did...here it is

    Dan

Still snow covered here so no flying it for a while

Yes it is called a redundant setup. Ii have 3 batteries in mine. 3 1900 maH two for the reciever and one for the ignition. They are 4 cell actually. So, if one or two cells die the others are backing it up. This doubles your capacity also. 12-20 flights a day

Hey Dan, Looked into those Duralites... as i expected a little pricey, never used those types of batteries yet. From what i understand i can use that same redundant set up w/ Nimh or nicads as long as the pack voltages are the same, in this case 6v. Right? As i posted earlier i am using hitec digitals all around so i imagine they will be drinking the juice. So i want to have some reserve there. I am considering using a ems jomar battery backer and 2 1700 packs w a third 1700 on ignition? How's that sound outside of a weight penalty? OR i can just go w/ the 2 packs in the reciever w/o the backer. Trying to research the pros and cons of this here on RCU. Can the 2 packs be Y harnessed together or do they Have to be in seperate reciever plug ins? Trying to figure on which way to go as i am using a futaba pcm reciever as well. My 1/4 scale P/W Extra i am running a 2700 Nimh w/ no backup... no problems thus far but as i am going larger want to start offering a little reassurance if you will! Thanks. Dave.

Weights not that bad. You can do excellence with the 3W 75 iUS, but never ever a Y harness. Two switches and you can plug a battery into any channel in a receiver if you did not know. Plug one in the battery channel and one in any other channel. GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS

You dont have to use two batteries, but no matter whivch way you go get nice switches with thoick wire. 22awg or similar. I use JR Heavy Duty switches

Hey Dan... Yes i did know about the battery plugging into any available chanel on the r/x but i did not know you can actually run 2 at the same time, interesting. After talking to a good buddy of mine i am opting to just pick up another pcm reciever and run the plane w/2 recievers and split the plane in half. I feel i have a little more insurance this way. For instance, i already have 2 heavy duty mpi switches i have to buy 2 batterys either way to gain redundancy and i already have the first pcm reciever, so i figure instead of paying another $45-$50 for the battery backer why not $50 more for the second reciever then all my bases are pretty much covered as far as failures go. What do you think? YES i wll definately make sure antenas do not touch anything or such to interfere w/ each other. I figure if things don't seem right w/ this setup i'll just go w/ the battery backer route and use the second reciever in my H9-Sukhoi! Thanks again. Dave

Great idea man, but i didn't do that because i paid $200 for my receiver and another would just be dumb IMO. If I had a cheaper one than overcourse I would go your way (two receivers)

    Dan

Let me know what your friebd said. I am very interested

Yeah, he just switched his giant extra over from a battery backer setup to 2 futaba pcm recievers, 2 switches and two packs. Now the plane is set up 1/2 on each reciever. One goes out or anything wrong on one side fails you can still land. Sounds good to me! Also I am using futaba pcm recievers...$99 ea @ tower, $200 for the pair. Makes sence to me! Thanks for your input. Can not wait to fly this thing!! Same thing here, COLD!!!+SNOW. Happy Landings! Dave.

Cool man...I should bring mine to the airport soon. Getting a good linkage for the rudder. Titanium Ball Links everywhere!!! RTF except I want that rudder linkage . May be a week or two. I got my beautiful Jersey Modeler tanks. I'm going to run the engine, so I have no problems at the field when the time comes.

Thanks for all of YOUR INPUT!

O and I just love my setup because its like running 4 battery packs. I have 4 cell Li-ONs and they are really light. Next, if one or two cells die in each pack I still can fly. Tons of flight time. Can't wait to fly it. Hopefully we can do some Edge flying at the Joe Nall. You betta be coming...LOL

    See ya
