The setup for the gyro that came with my bird said to increase the gyro gain (clockwise) until the tail just started to oscillate then decrease until it stops. Have you already tried decreasing the gain? Just a thought.

I finally received my new motor and its the same wrong $%^&$ motor I got the first time. I think it came from the same company, different name but same city. I think I will order from the place you used on ebay. This is really aggravating since I roached the stock motor and can't even use it for tweaking. Crud.

Jim, sorry about the motor. The guy I bought mine from was Taiwan and I had the motor in 3 days. It was unbelievable. I didn't even expedite the postage. I really do love the motor and ESC. Neither get hot at all with the 11T pinion. Although I have been thinking of moving to a 13T, just to try it.

Thanks for the tip on the tail. I'm going to go try it...

Jim, - write that tip in your book! It worked like a charm! I backed my gain down to about 65% from 80% and the tail wag stopped! I think the wag must be because my new servos are so much more responsive than the old Walkera NS-05's.

Actually, speaking of those servo's, they are extremely responsive. It's going to take me a little bit to get used to them. I've only done some hovering in my house since the change over but every tiny stick input is immediate. No lag at all. Hopefully that will help rather than hurt my piloting skills.

I've now got the gray align RC tail boom and the new clear blue servos. The bird is starting to look different all the time. I also put my training gear back on as I want to start learning nose-in hovering.

I'm glad that worked Mike. Did you get the seperate sheet of instructions on the WK-G006 with your original manual? If not I can scan mine and email it. I didn't see it on the Walkera web sight and it has some pretty good info. I really like the looks of that motor/ESC setup but I already installed the 30 amp ESC that came with the original order. On the outrunner motors the entire exposed motor casing spins. The only thing stationary is the mounting plate at the front of the motor where the wires exit. Does your housing spin, it didn't look like it. I was worried about chafing the wires from the lipo which is very close to the motor. I think I will just order your setup and have a spare ESC. He does not appear to sell the motor alone.

I'll bet you get it quick, if it's anything like mine. He was selling just the motor when I purchased mine, but maybe he's only doing combo's now. Anyway, I was checking the pinion on my motor tonight and apparently I've been running a 10T not an 11T. I took it off and put my 11T on but haven't had a chance to fly it yet. I thought I had been running an 11T all this time and was planning to put a 13 on tonight but I don't have one.

You'll need a pinion for your new motor and the Align 3 packs work great. I have the 9, 10, 11 pack. I'll let you know tomorrow how the 11 runs...

Hope so. I already have the pinion set so should be good to go once I GET A MOTOR. I'm leaving for a solo bike trim up the CA coast a week from Monday so hopefully I will get a chance to try it before then.

Actually the manuals says setting gyro sensitivity high will cause over compensation in AVCS mode. That's why you had tail wagging.
I have me Gyro on normal, for know I dont fly in parks.. until I become an expert. If you set more than 85%, your asking for trouble.

Once I feel confident enough, I will swtich back to AVCS mode to fly outdoors.

It seems to fly fine with the 11T on. I didn't notice much of a difference either way. I did the calculation for head speed and I'm running about 225 rpm's higher with the 11T than the 10T. My headspeed with an 85% efficiency should be somewhere around 2600 right now. I read somewhere that 2800 is best for 3D but since I'm not doing 3D, I think 2600 should be fine. I had two good flights in today so I'm happy[:D]. It's nice to have it all back together and working well. I brought it to work today and our plant engineer has decided to go buy one tomorrow night. He wants a Blade CP because our LHS supports them and he likes the thought of being able to run up to the store to pick up parts. I can't blame him there! Anyone have a Blade CP? If you do, should I steer him away from them? I don't know much about that aircraft so I can't say. I figure they can't be much worse than anything else out there.

Mark I think you are right. I received email this morning (7:00 am) that the order had already been shipped. If I get this stuff by mid next week I will have plenty of time to get it back in the air before my bike trip. Thanks for the advice. I was going to start with the 11T since that is the stock gear. I also ordered a 1800 10C lipo battery for and backup. This 2200 12C is pretty big. I touches the front of the canopy and clears the motor by about 1/2 inch. Maybe I will dedicate that to my airplane. Glad to hear your bird is in shape.

What a sucess story the motor and ESC work perfectly and everything stays cool. [:D] The motor sounds so good and has so much more power. Just a hover so far but stable and smooth as silk. Thanks Mark. Here some pictures of my current config.

Looks Great Mike! It's interesting to see how you hooked yours up. My ESC is on the other side and I connect the battery on the other side as well. I'm glad to see you have that zip tie to hold the battery tray from snapping off during a hard landing. I used some wire to make a permanent holder. I use velcro on my battery and battery tray to hold the battery on. It also keeps it from moving towards the motor housing. I'll try to post some pics at some point.

Did you use the 11T? I was thinking of going back to 10T since I didn't see too much of a difference and my 10C battery stays cooler. There is such a big difference between my 10C battery and 12C battery in terms of temp. The 12C stays just "warm" during use, while the 10C seems to get hot. I can only run the 10C for 6 or 7 minutes before having to let it cool down. This was not the case with the 10T I had been running. The ESC and motor stay about the same temp with either pinion.

The reason the wires are on that side is because I was trying to set up the gyro and it was easier to plug in and remove power while tweaking on the gyro. I did not like the fact that those wires were so close to the antenna and I have since moved them to the other side. Much better. Yes I am using the 11t and it lifts off about mid throttle or slightly more smooth and quiet. Everything stays nice and cool. the motor is just warm after about 8 minutes and the battery is just noticeably above room temp. I am really pleased with this setup. I hope the 10c 1800mAH runs the same.

Jim, it looks as if your bird is identical to mine. 11T, same motor, same esc, 12C and 10C batteries, relocated tail servo, etc. We should be flying just about the same provided our V1, V2, and mechanical setups are close. Mine lifts off the same - just slightly above mid throttle. I think it's a pretty good setup overall. Very stable. However, I have noticed that I'm getting a slow left creep on the heading. Not sure how to fix that. It probably has something to do with the gain, but I'm not sure. I can compensate with trim but I wish I could center the trim up.

I think I will run to the hobby store and get some training gear before I crash this thing. I see yours are on (smart). If you remember I had or still have the same creep if I leave the gyro in AVCS as opposed to norm so I decided to just leave it in the norm position. It seems to be ok but I'm such a rookie I never keep it airborne more than a few seconds. It lifts up pefectly strait but I'm horrible with the right stick. So far it's in one peice and I'd like to keep it that way for a while. Like your black wire ties. How the heck did I get such a supersize picture?

Not sure how I got the picture... we've got a Sony point and click. I put my training gear back on last week because I want to start practicing nose in hovering. I can hover pretty good... high, low, left, right. I can also do a little bit of forward flight and some pirouettes but I still get confused when the aircraft is coming towards me (in forward flight). I'd like to be able to hover as well nose in, as I can nose out...[8|] Wishful thinking but if I want to continue with this hobby, I think I should be able to do the basics!

I did try putting the gyro in NORM position, but it creeps the other way (right). For now it's in AVCS but I may tinker with it today... mother-in-law is coming to spend the night so I'll need to find something to occupy my time (other than conversation[:)])

I had to put it back to the 10T. Things were getting too hot. The more I flew it with the 11T, the more I noticed the difference. My flights were 8-9 minutes shorter as well. I put the 10T back on and I'm back in business. Flies perfect with no overheating and long flight times. I wonder what the difference is and why you're not having the heat problems I am. My mesh is good. My tail belt is comfortably loose. Lots of lube on everything, etc.

I put the training wheels on this afternoon and must have an hour or so hovering practice and so far so good (two battery discharges). Everything is staying nice and cool with the 11T. Wonder if it is the throttle/pitch adjustment. Mine lifts off with with pretty high head speed but is quiet and smooth. After running 10 minutes the motor housing is just warm and the battery is barely above room temp. The motor mounting plate is somewhat hotter but I can easily keep my finger on it. I think I will stay with this setup for now and get in some more practice.

what servo rod you have replaced? Or you did a mod on the existing for the relocation of the tail servo?

So how you rate for DF37? So far it's not as popular as DF36 with lots of upgrades. What about DF60? Walkera seems to market more on 36 and 60 rather than 37.
