I try to keep them fresh. I had some crazy things happen with my DF4 when the batteries started getting low. When I first started flying heli's I thought 8 batteries in the transmitter would last a LONG time (and the walkera tx battery meter was still lit up), so after about 20 flights on the same original set of batteries, my DF4 started flipping out in midair. Bank left, right, up down, crash.... Took me a while to figure out it was the TX batteries! It was the last place I considered.

hey guys how good is the 37? before i was thinking of getting a 37 but the 60 came out so i went for the DF60... is the 37 alot better than the 36? am sure it must be since it is the upgraded version of the 36... is it as good as the 39? i have heard alot about the 39 performance... most of them say it is as good as the TREX but havent seen one in flight.. what about the 37????

Well, I've never flown a TREX, 36 or a 39, but I like the 37 very much. It is bigger than the 36 and heavier so it's probably a bit more stable. I don't believe the 36 is true CCPM like the 37. A stock 37 is a big disappointment in terms of power, but from all the forums I've read, it seems most people switch to brushless/lipo's with all of their CP birds. After the upgrade, it's very impressive. I think the other difference between the 36 and 37 is the upgraded gyro, but the 36 may be shipping with the 006 gyro now.

I do like the 60. I almost wish I had gotten it. I like the fact that it has a metal main frame. I hope someone comes out with an upgrade frame for the 37. Not that the plastic one doesn't work fine, but it would be nice to strengthen it up, especially the battery tray, which I had to strengthen because it seemed flimsy. Mine didn't break, but I wanted to beef it up before it did. When I crashed mine last weekend the frame held up great, as did my modified battery tray.

So far I haven't found a lot of "Upgrade" parts for the 37. Maybe it's just because it's so new. I would love to find a CNC head assembly. I think I could find a good CNC tail, since it's probably exactly the same as the 36.

Overall a nice aircraft and I would recommend it to anyone.

I found an aluminum swash plate that will fit the 37. will this be that much better thatn the plastic one or will it just look better?

If the aluminum swash is made for the 37 it will be much better that the plastic swash.. does this swash have steel balls or the aluminum ones? if this comes with the steel ones this will be a lot better and last longer.. the aluminum balls tend to loosen up thru time causing more vibrations on the ball links.. and making it more sloppy on the cyclic.. definitely the aluminum swash is better and will last longer than the plastic ones, durable and less replaceable.

Hi guys

Well, I have done some upgrades.
I now have the Align L430 brushless and the 25A controller (very nice pair). and I also have Align servos all around to combat any walkera servo issues I might have in the future.

I haven't taken it off the ground yet as I just finnshed installing everything, but I've spun the motor and it sounds great.

Looking forward to first test flight.

Here is a shot of the new setup.

Hey Matt, looks great! How did you paint your canopy? I just ordered a new canopy and I would like to paint it before putting it into service. Did you paint the inside or the outside? What kind of paint, etc.

Also, let's hear how it flies!

Hi Army,

I used a can of black spray paint and painted the inside. It gives a great full gloss look from the outside as the plastic is effictively a thick layer of clear.

The swash plate was in a shop, not on line and it turned out to be for the t-rex CCPM so doesn't fit the 37. sorry for the false alarm.

I have just done some basic hovering at this stage, it handles much different than my DF4 as you know.
It is very stable now with the new brushless and I really like the programable ESC.

I will try to post some vids later.

A friend of mine who also has the 37 is experimenting with mounting the rudder servo on the tail boom. has anyone else tryed this yet? good results?

Matt, those don't look like stock servos, are they? If not what are they and do they work well? My CCPM servos were great but I'm having a problem with the tail servo. I think it's just not fast enough to keep up with the power of the brushless main motor. The A/C spins quickly before the tail can catch up. I may have other issues, but that's what I'm leaning towards...

Mark, they are all Align servos. I changed them out due to warnings from many forums.
they feel good, but the rudder servo still reacts kinda slow. I'm waiting to see what results my friend gets from mounting the servo on the tail boom.

Here are some shot of the tail boom mount that my friend did on his 37.

I didn't get to see it in action because he crashed, but hes said that it was allot more responsive than the origional setup, he was flicking it around 90 degres one way then the other.
I think I will do the same to mine.

He bought the as a set with two Align tail booms for about 6 bucks. we live in China.

good to here you are back in the air.
I did the rudder mod on my heli last night. haven't really flown it yet other than a little test hover inside, seems better.
I can't think of any reason that they put it inside other than looks, because it did look a little neater before. But I chose performance.

I ordered the tailboom/servo holder set yesterday. Should be here in a couple of days. I am going to do the same mod. I agree, there seems to be a lot of slop in the stock setup. It does look a little better, but I'm with you... I'd rather have the improved performance.

I think I'm going to paint my new canopy this weekend. I'm trying to figure out what color. I'm leaning towards yellow and black but not sure yet. Do you know how I can paint the inside of the canopy yellow, while painting the "windshield" black? Never painted a canopy before...

My friend painted his black, but left the windshield clear, by puting masking tape on the inside where the windshield is.

I think if you first put masking tape every where but the wind shield and paint it black, wait for it to dry, then take of the tape and paint the whole inside yellow, from the outside it will have the effect you want.

I test flew my new setup today in a little toomuch wind and had a hard landing (broken leg and damaged blades) the new setup is a little quicker to respond, but I think I would get even better results if I moved the ball further along on the servo arm.
the standard setup comes with the ball about halfway along the servo arm, so I kept it like that, but my friend put his ball all the way to the end of the arm and it is much faster.
