Sounds like its a good buy then to "invest" in a couple or so. I just wonder if there is any way of getting them locally rather than having to wait to get them online.....

I am putting at .26 max into a stock 2.5 revo and want to run an 1/8 scale clutch on it. Has anyone done this yet? I am having a lot of clearance issues with the clutch bell hitting the spur gear. Any suggestions as to what fly wheel clutch combos would work with the stock revo style motor mounts?

yeah blue is cold. but it stays lit on the throttle even when running 20% when i got them i planned on goin up to 30%. i should have got the green plugs. but even though i have a blue plug in it, i think i might stay with it. when i run out of blue plugs i might try the green plug. but then again why mess with a good set up? i know if i had an LC3 in it, it would be burnt by now. they compare pretty close to the mc. 59's. but i like these when i'm on the go, just reach in my tool box and grab the blue plug, instead of trying to read the fine print on the side to see what plug it is.

Thanks for the info. Would you say the Merlin plugs last longer than the McCoy's? I'm running MC9s with O'Donnells 30% race blend fuel right now. I'm only in the break-in stage right now but it seems to run pretty good with that plug. I had one die at tank 5 but maybe that's just break-in.

What pipe have you guys found to work well with the .26Max? I have a T-Maxx which uses a right side pipe. I'd like to know what pipes work well regardless if they are designed for the T-Maxx or not, I may make my own header pipe if it's worth it. I'm more interested in low to mid range rather than top end. Also, how sensitive is this motor to header diameter and length?

Here's a shot of my truck with the Red Dot in it.

I would suggest the OS header for the .21 TM or the .18 TM... A bit pricey at 35 bucks but well worth it. That Traxxas resonator pipe is pretty good,,,,,I've tested several differant pipe/header combos for my old style picco .26 max and the best so far has been the OS header and Sirio pipe combo(very similar in design to the Traxxas resonator)
As far as plugs I run an OS LC3 plug in mine and haven't had to change it in 2+ gallons.
You wanna really make that thing fly??? put a FOC kit in the tranny and ditch the stock tires and wheels for some better tires.

Thanks for the feedback on the pipes. I'll search around for an O.S. header pipe, any suggested sources? I assume you used the spring style mount?

I know a lot of people like the FOC setup but I really like my reverse so I'm going to stick with that setup. I'm running the close ratio gear set right now. It was good for the 3.3 motor but I'm thinking to swap in the standard ratio set for the Picco after I'm done with break-in. I'll see how it goes.

I was doing a little research on Merlin plugs and came up with this from the Hong Nor website:

Another one day event took place at the GMCA offroad track in Gozo and as usual all drivers from Malta and Gozo meet for a day of excitment and friendly races at the track. There were 3 classes of racing,Truggy,Buggy and Monster truck.................... All the 3 podium drivers were using Merlin Glow Plugs and Cobra fuel made by The Model Centre Malta.

I am using the big block mount made by Picco. It looks like the stock mount just big enough for the .26 to fit in. You don't have any adjustment to move the motor towards the back of the truck to clear the longer 1/8 clutch.

I don't have a 1/8 clutch setup, how much longer is it? How much more do you need to move the engine for clearance?

Picco 26 Maxx factory setting: HSN flush and LSN 2 turns out from flush.
Courtesy of OFNA. I just thought this was the appropriate place for this.

We have a new hop up for the Picco .26 Max. We have just got in stock non-pullstart backplates straight from Picco! They are "no-cut" meaning you DO NOT have to touch the nipple on the crankshaft. We just got these in about 3 hours ago! They are a beautiful lightly polished finish. The part number is 51459 and the retail price is $47.95. In addition to improving the performance signifacantly, it should improve how well the motor tunes by sealing off the rear of the crankcase. If you do not want to reuse your existing back plate seal you will need to purchase a new seal (PN#51436) for $2.95.

the ths pipe works great for any t-maxx compatible engine. i've seen it used with the trx2.5, the trx3.3, the os 21, os 18, and the picco 26. it's a great pipe.

i personally use a ths pipe in my t-maxx with a trx 2.5 motor. it even lowered temps a bit. then i solved my temp. problem even further by getting a horizon hobby cooling head (dropped temps by about 50 degrees)

question for the revo owners, what exhaust did you put on you picco? I have a spring mounted one that has a lot to be desired. If I dont' get that muffler mounted just right then I have unused fuel leak out of the header/exhaust port. Mine is spring mounted (new spring) but am having trouble location a gasket for the header. Anyone have a good suggestion on what header/muffler combo for this engine and a revo? And also, has any revo had a problem constantly blowing one way bearings on this motor? In the past two weeks, I have had to replace mine 3 times (going on the fourth one if my tiger drive doesn't get in).

thanks
matt
