i didn't, no. the only problem i ran into was getting the mesh pat. i take off the roll bar and the servo box and i have all sorts of room. it's only 4 screws, so it's no biggie. i can see exactly what i'm doing and get the mesh perfect. also, with the parts out of the way i have all sorts of room to install the engine. piece of cake!

The only beef I had was a major...MAJOR lack of gear mesh. And to be quite honest, was dumbfounded by ofnas lack of forsight in the ID design process of that peice. WOW, you would think that we would need even just a bit of gear mesh with the mount...but nope! Shocking as it is, all they needed was a small area so that when you have to bolt in the engine to the brace, you have a small mount of mesh...but not a thing.

I would not go the Ofna mount system again.

I had to use washers under the engine lip so that it would boost it up by about 1.35mm. Now the mesh is great, but...just not as streamlined as it should be and without the added BS of having to do that each time I change gear ratios...yada!

Yep...I had to do the same thing. I used 4 washers and cut about 0.9mm off the side of all 4 to allwo them to fit. But its a hassle if I change gear ratios though.

ill get the Hot racing BB set.

Hey guys, I was going to buy an os 18 and a revo 2.5r from towerhobbies and get it shipped to Australia. The revo over here is a grand the the 18 tm is $400, I can get both SHIPPED here for $950, I then saw tower had the picco .26, my mate has one in his revo that I do allot of work on and all I can say is WOW, it is a good motor, doesn't tune quite as well as the os but it doesn't worry me. In my cart I have the revo 2.5r, the picco .26 max and the ofna engine mount. I have a few questions:

1: Is this mount ok?
2: Will the stock diffs and the stock wheel hexes hold up to all the power the picco offers?
3: will an OS #8 plug be ok for this? my LHS has the OS #8 and the OS A3, the A3 is the hotter plug I think, I will be using 20% nitro so I assume the OS #8 will be a better choice?
4: Is the stock pipe OK? I will upgrade to a resonator or trinity a couple of months after I buy the truck and the engine but when I get it I will be strapped for cash (I'm only 14)
5: The stock gearing will probably be to low for this engine considering it comes with the 2.5r in it. What gearing do you reccomend?

1) i think the ofna mount is lacking. i say that because i have it. i day dream about replacing it, but instead i don't. if i had my choice, i'd get the traxxas big block mount. however, after going through the trouble of making this work, i just haven't gotten around to replacing it. i have attached 3 pictures: the first is the engine loose in the housing. the second are the 2 washers i have to use to get the mount to hold still. third is the mount with the washers in place. you can see how much space is in there.

2) after a few months, mine are still fine. time will tell...

3) i live in texas so i don't see much cold weather. i use a medium heat plug.

4) according to ofna it was designed to use the stock pipe. i used the stock pipe for a bit and it was good.

5) i never used the stock ratio transmission gears, i had the wide ratio from day 1. but i tried the stock (15t) clutchbell & it would wheelie like crazy. i tried combos with the 15t, 16t, and 17t CB's and 36t and 38t spurs and eventually settled on 16t/38t. but that's me. it can still flip over from a dead stop, but not if i don't want it to.

good luck!

Hey guys, is it true that if I get the 2.5r and the picco .26 and the ofna mount, I will not be able to use stock gearing coz it wont fit?

If you get the picco .26 maxx and the ofna mount for the revo you will be able to mount it. You can leave the gearing as it is. But people change the gearing on the clutch bell and spur to compensate for the new beast. Also you might want to look into the pipe on tower hobbies too, it's like $20 and made for big blocks. That will make the picco rip even more.

I know why people raise the gearing due to the low end torque, but I was told, due to the way the mount has the engine sitting the stock gearing is not possible. I heard this on RC bros, I think.

Yeah I hear of some guys running with the stock diff oil that the centre diff came with and I just shake my head in exasperation and dissbelief...what can you say to someone whom thinks they know it all? I have the Hot Racing quick turn as its so much better as its can be locked with having to take it out and replace it with a drive shaft...only way to go. I use this only on the small tracks with my revo and if I have a bit of fun with the lads at the track.

With the big tracks ill be running the .28 on, the centre diff will be used with a strong diff viscosity to help keep it stable. I still have not found the right viscosity yet though! I ran about 340 in the centre diff last time with the .26 and it seemed good and I got a first on the big track but I was not running that on the normal races as its dissallowed to do so.

I think when i have the time next year, as this years race season is finished and the snow will set in soon. Ill put in the modded .28 and have about 2 centre diff set ups, running about 380 an more and see how that goes. But I have not run the BB .28 in yet so Im at this point unsure what I will run with. But it will perhaps take a whole weekend just to play with it, strip it down re-adjust and try again. Its just a time consuming excercise, tips here and there help.

well I ran a modded Sh28p6 in my Revo... I was having alot of stability issues so i figured i would try the center diff... I dod my research and used OFNA Diff Locker silicone grease, viscosity of 500K......... anyways the diff is useless with big power, my truck still unloaded like mad, the front tires ended up actualy blowing off the rim... Center diff and big power is a combo your never going to have with the Traxxass 2 spider center diff....I have a stock 24/7 pro in the same Revo, and it still balloons the front tires like Pizza cutters at the slightest flick of the throttle... It looked cool, but it was useless and will make very short work of your front diff..... So If your planning a modded 28 of any decent power to use with the center diff I'd strongly suggest re-thinking your plans, as the results are going to be terrible....

Supertib, are you Maximus from SC? Anyway guys, I have some bad news (probably not for you but for me). My mum was talking to my dad about Xmas and birthday (my birthday is on the 15th of december) and my mum knows I want a revo and a picco, so I asked her if she could give me money for Xmas and birthday. She had no problems with that and she was talking to my dad on the phone telling him I want money from him aswell, he is fine with it but he doesn't want me buying another RC car, he sees it as a waste of money. It really annoys me when he does stuff like this, he doesn't hesitate to spend $3000 on a set of golf clubs but if I spend $950 on a sweet RC car and a new engine he doesn't like it. My other 2 RC's have been my own money, I think I should be able to spend it on what I want. Mum doesn't have a problem with me buying another RC as she knows the revo is what I originally wanted but my LHS would only sell me a savage. What should I do? I want a revo heaps but at the same time I don't want to make my dad upset.

It will fit but you will NOT have any gear mesh or should I say, you will not be able to adjust to have any if you wish to swap out to different gear ratios. I would not go down the OFNA mount track there.

So with the OFNA mount, I can only use the stock gearing? I like wheelies on command but that would be just stupid wouldn't it? I was told on another forum with the OFNA mount, theres 2 combo's I can use as far as gearing but theres no way I could get the stock gearing to fit without getting a different mount?????????

I ask everywhere and I ask more than once because I want to be sure. If you're a detective and someone robs a bank full of 100 people and you ask everyperson what the robber looked like you get 100 different answers, similar case with this stuff.
