 LBXnut,

You should post your video on Youtube. It reminds me of this video:

Talk about a chipping paint job, right? But I love the sound his LB makes when accellerating.

-

lunchie,

Nice to read you finally got your parts in. I hope you and your children enjoy the LB!

The suspension should definitely be softer than what you seem to have. Dampers don't dampen a thing if the suspension and the springs are so stiff!

I believe with the T610 charger, you'll need to buy a power supply seperate.

I myself recently purchased the Thunder AC6.

The AC6 comes with the power cord. The difference between them is that the AC6 charges at 5 amps max doesn't come with built-in fan and so it's cheaper. (The Thunder T610 charges at 10 amps max which makes it relatively future proof if your batteries ever get bigger.) I haven't received the AC6 yet, but I believe the AC6 comes with an array of connectors which includes the Tamiya/molex connector, whereas the T610 comes with bullet plugs, and so you'll have to either solder the molex yourself or buy the Tamiya connector with 4mm banana plugs seperate or get that style of bullet plug and solder it onto your battery.

Tamiya connector:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/thunder-tamiyaconnector.html

The AC6:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html

If I'm honest, I'd rather have purchased the T610. But I will be charging my batteries at 1c, and for a 5000mah LIpos that = 5 amps. So I'll be good for now.

Thanks Hwa224, I added the Tamiya connector to my order, only $3 for just in case and have everything on its way to me.  And thanks for explaining some of that diff in chargers.

I remember the charger I used to have was like carrying a toaster around.  These are pretty fancy and the costs...they sure have changed.  Way less then what I paid back in the day.

StevenJV,

Very important information about your FlySky You may have to bind your receiver to your transmitter.

You'll find instructions on how to do this at various websites, but here's information you'll need if your receiver is like the version that I recently received:

(1) With your receiver powered up (a power source through the "vcc" slot) and with the bind plug in the "Bind"/channel 3 slot, your receiver is supposed to blink.

(2) When you hold the transmitter bind button and then turn on your controller, that blinking light turns solid after about 3 seconds.

However, it appears FlySky are getting cheap with their circuits. So instead of the above, what you'll see with the bind plug in the bind slot is a solid light. Hold the bind button on your transmitter, then wait for about 3 seconds or more. The rx and tx are now bound - even though you didn't start with a blinking led etc.. Remove the bind plug and test. The two should be bound.

Ok thanks for that.

I was out of town for a few days but all my shipments arrived and are waiting for me to crack boxes.

I've also been waiting for power supplies to get off of "backorder" status at hobbypartz.  I keep watching the G350 to be available while searching for a comparable product in price and specs.

NEARLY DONE!

just about ready! all i have to do is make up the body mounts and setup the steering geometry and a few cosmetic things like custom licence plate.
third shock all mounted.

Front shock and rear tray braces all fitted up and the wheelie bar brace...made from 3mm stainless threaded rod.
you can also see my custom gear plate for the radio gear. i just cut down the two "towers" that were used to hold up the mech speed control and bolted the plate to the bottom of the chassis. I may swap it out for a plastic one if i get glitches.

enjoy the pics.

Still nothing like an immaculate Lunch Box, freshly built. I love the blue dampers. What brand are those?

I love the strut brace, much classier than my trimmed spare back panel insert from an old PC.

Nice bracing! I have the same on my lunchbox and pumpkin wheelie bars, I noticed you have a couple more in other places, something for me to try on a rainy day.

This weekend we had some monster truck races

Midnight pumpkin - Tamiya BZ dirt motor - aftermarket aluminium wheels, stock tires
Lunchbox - Tamiya Sport tuned motor - standard plastic wheels

Both trucks have the same brand oil shocks, 3rd shock mod etc, anyway the lunchbox won the races every time. It’s my favourite truck again hehe.

I also raced the pumpkin against my brothers stock 1/10 Traxxas Grave digger, it was a really even match maybe swaying to the grave digger. So I’m taking the lunchbox next time, maybe some softer springs, I will beat him!

HELP!

well after the first two batteries i have had the pinion grub screw loosen off and now the servo screw fall out GRRRRRRR!
time for some loctite?

also how long do you get on a stock lunchbox with a 3000mah battery?

my lunchbox feels ssssssssoooooooooo ssssssslllllooooooowwwwwww. i mean really slow.

it lacks punch off the line, and feels like a cheap nicco store car barely able to get through the grass.
do the nimh batteries get better with age/use?? (duratrax onyx 3000mah.)

Bootnut: You can slide them (axles) out of the plastic Tamiya uprights, and slide them into the Junfac units. If you tap the metal axles with a punch or a nail, they will pop right out.

With 3000mah battery, you should get 30 minutes or more on stock motor. On a 3800mah battery I got more than 40 minutes. And the LB had a good punch to it. Not of course much of any top speed but it was zippy even with the silver can.

Make sure your battery is a genuine 3000mah battery or is not defective.

On grass, however, the silver can is barely able to push the LB.

Got my power supply and charger setup.

Exciting to me only but posting an update.

Also did some body painting this weekend and came to work with green paint all over my hands.  I think I got the paint on the wrong body.

got the paint done with and gave the LB a trial run outdoors
Just need to tighten up the electics inside
paint and glue the wheels
then get ready to fix everything that breaks as soon as my kids have at it.

I think I'm going to pick up a parma body and spend time detailing that and get more experience with painting

StevenJV,

What a sexy beast your LB is! I like the green..? Looks nice. It looks blue in one of the slides of your pic, unless that's a different body.

In RC, there's a tension, a constant battle between liking the hobby because you have a beautiful RC car vs liking the hobby because running that RC car is fun. The problem is that these two things are almost mutually exclusive. The more you run the car, the more crap it looks, the more it gets damaged, which = ugly RC. LOL.

But a moist microfiber towel can do wonders. And good driving skills.

Its a metallic jade green I think. it was a can of spray that looked good enough to me for $5. thank you.  I sprayed a little heavy though, oh well.

this week I picked up a pair of 50520's to swap in and I grabbed an upgraded steering tierod set from a dude who has them prebuilt on ebay.  My stock ones kept getting loose.

I havent quite looked at how the 50520's attach but I know they should work pretty good.  I probably need an extra part or two to attach the top of the shock, guess I'll find out.

oh, and I spray painted those yellow rims black.  no more john deer look.
