what pieces did you replace with the CRP's one?...sorry for direct hit, but I'm in a restoration of my Pumpkin...even if he'll get a brand new lexan LB shell...
the wheels arrives already...no pics, but a nice fit:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001388121&I=LXM871&P=K
already mounted oil shocks on back...I'll see about the motors he get...maybe I will lock the diff...

just waiting for the FROG adapter for rear ones, and the lexan body...and it's all set...

OK...built up the Goldie in about 3 hours with a break lolz...

Some familiar annoyances have surfaced (remembering my other Tamiya buildups) and I am having some problems...chime in if you can help.

Programmed the stocker esc (tazer isn't in yet) and I can't get reverse despite following the instructions to the T

I have a problem with gearbox slop...the diff/gears seem to slip and my wheel axles seem to have alot of play...time to rip it apart and see why this is so. I put the sleave in as they mentioned but it feels like there needs to be a shim of some sort in there. I dunno.

Pinion mesh seems to be overly tight.

Those rediculous springs do nothing for the rear axle and everytime i hit the gas the rear end slams into the chassis...how did this ever get approved for production!

The suspension is a joke...but you all already knew that.

The stupid swing peice for the battery and a body post have already been broken with the absolute minimum of effort. THe body post glued up and seems ok but one hit and it is going to be taost. THe battery bar won't stay glued because of the stress/bending needed to move it out of the way.

I am bummed about the quality and the fact I followed these instructions religously and still I am having problems. At least the steering is good with my high torque servo but the rear end is an utter mess. I didn't expect oo much, I realize this is a vehicle meant for fun but getting such a simple van to run shouldn't have been such a pain.

The shocks will be replaced with threaded allum. oils, esc will come in, I am going to do the 5th shock mod and the bearings will come in soon enough and I'll have to rip apart the rear again anyway. The ESC has me baffled and the gear slop as well. I am positive I built it right but again the extra axle movement has me thinking something is missing.

Buying all the extra screw bags was also a good idea.

Could the no reverse be because of the RZ super stock?

i drove my LB over the weekend and my tail light went out. has anyone else had problems with the LEDs pooping out VERY quickly?

I have noe experience with the light kits, but do remember that LEDs have an upper voltage limit. The higher the voltage the faster they burn out. Usually leds will not burn out unless they are specifically submitted to too high voltage.

Measure voltage on the leds that still work and post it tigether with LED type.

Sorry, and not intending to call you out, but if you've done previous Tamaiya buildups and suggest you've done the Tamaiya thing in the past it would seem to me you're mostly asking/having Tamaiy-typical questions/complaints that are relatively easily solved.

If you're new to this and the whole hobby please say so.

I guess a lot of it depends on just how rough of a "driving over the weekend" experience you had. While its been my experience that LED are a lot tougher than normal incandescent bulbs, all lighting kits are more Show than Go.

for programming the esc, i'd sleep on it and try again. after 3 hours of building you might not be following the directions as closely as you think.

i have never broken the battery bar so i can't help there.

for gluing the body posts, try mixing in some baking soda with the super glue. it will give you a stronger repair.

but that's exactly what you did. like when politicians say "with all due respect..." and proceed to absolutely rip someone.

for the LEDs...

i got two sets (one for each LB) in trade for a set of new Revo 3.3 axle carriers. the guy made them at his house. i originally had to return the first two sets he sent me because they didn't work properly.

i only use a 9v for the power. i was driving pretty rough. as were my 5yr old to 8 yr old cousins who were driving them.

i am thinking it has more to do with quality of the kits i got more so than the LED kits in general. just wondering if the tamiya kits (presumably the highest quality i'll find) had the same problems.

Sorry, maybe I did. I guess I was just trying to do it in a not so hurtful way. At the same time it's kind of hard not to call something as I see them. There wasn't any harm intended, but when the complaints go on and on it gets a little old. If you know what I mean.

I tend to think that those three points about cover it.

And if you're going to call me out for saying something to the other guy, how do you expect me to want to weigh in and answer your questions?

I am currently using a no frills yeah racing kit that gets its power from the RX. LB just received the 3Racigng fully functional kit. It will be interesting to see how fast they burn up, but at the rate I run my r/c cars (maybe once a week) I don't think I can give you any long term updates.

Tamiya light kit = $$$. You can build your own light kits form LED's and resistors, there is an online calculator somewhere that tells you what resistors to use with the given voltage and LED.
