i have descison to make.

do i get the novak 8.5t ss5800 and run it at 7.2v for around 39,700 rpm using the 10 tooth pinion

or do i get the carson 12t dragster brushless, run it at 9.6v for around 31,500 rpm but use the 18 tooth pinion.

i dont know what would be best, higher rpm or slightly higher torque from the carson.. hmmmmmmm

Novak 8.5 gets the vote for me because it is easier.... you don't need the 9.6V pack..

For the Carson motor, I assume it is sensorless.. that you'd be power it up using a Sidewinder or a MM? Or? (cause you said you are going to run 9.6V)

You can get the standard shocks recommended by Tamiya... but pretty much almost all 90-100mm shocks would work...

Hey lbshelfqueen,

I can't really help out with your question, but I have heard nothing but bad about the carson brushless systems.
They are sensorless, cogging like mad and most of them seem to go bad after a few runs. I would suggest to have a look on some forums before you buy it.

sometimes when i run a brushless system in my lunchbox it stutters a bit.. as if the batery is dead flat.

is this because the motor is sencing it is slightly jammed because of the low gear ratio?

would sensorless cure this?

Sensorless will be less smooth if anything else, though.... I have never had problem w/ sensored system.. for sensorless, you need good batteries..

Are you running an AM Radio on your Box? This caused serious stutter on my brushless box (Novak like yours) when reaching a certain distance.
