RE: Return of Lunchbox..
i always do. just was dieing to see what it would do. so far it looks like i will have to use spacers for the wheel hub being narrow. not 100% sure yet.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
introducing the short course themed lunchbox!
s/c weels and tires
slash shocks and springs
castle creations sct 3800 brushless
going to be getting the crp front end soon.
on the sc10 wheels i took a 7/16 drill bit and drilled out the bearing seat. then used 4 old 5/11 bearings i had sitting around and slid two on each side then the sc10 wheel goes on.

Looking good Krazy. This thread makes me want to get my LB out of storage and upgrade it. I feel the need to read all of this massive thread before I get to rebuilding....geez 287 pages, I am still on #31

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
i think i killed the lunchbox towards the end of one of my batteries the lunchbox came to a screaching (literally) hault. it was alot of fun in this form, and was really fast (all 4 tires ballooning) and would pull a wheelie all the way up my street. im about ti tear into it and see what happened. i will keep you guys up to date

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
wow... i split the gear that holds the diff gears which im assuming let a diff gear out of place and didn't allow the diff gear to mesh properly with the top gear and stripped the trans. guess no 4 pole motors for these trucks....
slid a washer in the split to show it better
then the top gear. definitely a mesh problem.
i just can believe how much speed i got out of this setup. and i could never get to full throttle due to not having enough room.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
they were brand new lol. last time it was ran my friend did a stupid move by going backwards to full throttle and it split the gear like that, but a little worse. probably going the throw new gears in it then swap to the vxl motor.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I'm running a 4600KV with 2S 30C LiPo in my Lunchbox and i've not (yet) had a problem with the gearing.
I don't baby it either, I've broken all the original body posts and replaced them with these:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZHE6
They did a great job of not snapping during a roll over but then I had exactly the same problem as you, the next weakest part in the chain failed and the body post snapped the chassis just like yours. My repair was to bend over a trip of metal, glue it across the snapped secton then drill holes through it and attach the body post to the metal, I figure it should hold until the next weakest part (the body itself) snaps in half!
Here's a picture of my repair, you can also see the Golden Horizons post on the other side screwed in to the plastic, I think I'll be reinforcing that and all the other posts in a similar way as soon as I can.
I think the lesson to learn from both our experiences is that the Lunchbox isn't really build for brushless + LiPo power

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
is that the 2 pole 4600 castle motor? i have no doubt that it will handle brushless. i just dont see what else would cause the diff gear to break like that. im still just having a hard time believing that i had all 4 tires ballooning.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I don't know my poles from a long smooth stick, it's this one...
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAUHR
It'll balloon the tyes off if I run it off the ground but not while it's running, it does keep up with the kids next door with their brushless Thunder Tiger XXT's (in a straight line anyway).
Was yours ballooning while running?! That's crazy!
