Ball bearings are ordered for the transmission and the front tires.

I'm looking for a set of oil filled shocks too, right now she bounces all over the place. Its funny to watch it go actually, I got quite a kick out of it.

What I wonder, is if there are any shocks, other than the tamiya ones that would do the trick. I'm going to measure my XXX-T rear shocks tonite and find out.

Good times.

Yeah, you should definitely put the bearings in the 'Box, it deserves it!

With the proper mounting bracket (your kit should come with them) you can pretty much use any that's similar in length.. I think the setting for the Tamiya shock is around 3.2" eye to eye.. (if I remember it correctly, during the build process, it says something like 87mm or so..)

Keep us posted on what you end up doing! I'd be interested to hear!

The lunchbox got some eyes this evening.

I was feeling industrious, so I pulled 2 new white leds out of the package, grabbed a switch and a dual AA battery holder and made a lighting setup.

The switch is located under the chassis, where the wires snake through to the motor. You can turn the lights on and off without removing the body, or making any mods to the chassis.

WOW, that's nice.. got pics of the exact setup inside to show us?

Did you get the Tamiya light kit or you just bought some LEDs yourself?

So 3V is enough to power the LEDs? Ever thought about using the BEC to power it?

Thanks!

I actually have a baggie of White Leds from a project I did a while back, they are hi-intesity, so they suited the headlight application pretty well.
No kit, I'm too cheap =)

I'm using to alkaline batteries, which I expect will run the two LEDs for about 50 hours. The total power is about 3.15v but they will work well into the 2.25v range.

I did think about using the bec, but I figured the self contained setup would be simpler to implement. I'll take some pictures of it for you here in a minute.

Where can I get some of those LEDs?! That's really bright! Good job there, man!! That's pretty cool!!

Yeah, a 2 cell AA holder inside of the body is probably the easiest so you can take off the shell without all the wire tangling w/ the receiver, etc.

Oh, meant to ask you how's the Losi XXX-T.. I am thinking about adding a truggy to my line up.. I know it is a good racing machine, but is it pretty tough as well? I am usually easy on my equipments (I don't do big jump, run into stuff purposely, do silly things in general).. so it holds up to general driving around, jumping off the curb, small ramp, kind of deal okay? How's the transmission / slipper clutch? A lot of maintenance? Thanks! (I think the MF2 kit is like $230-240 range?)

With regard to the XXX-T. I think it's a real nice all around vehicle.

I don't take it off extreme jumps either, but I do live in a neighborhood with lots of driveway curbs and sidewalk un-even spots... which provide for some pretty good jumping and bashing. Really, the XXX-T has been a pretty much maint. free vehicle, with the exception of my few crashes into bricks and light-posts.... (not going to go into that).

The stock 19t motor is plenty quick for messing around, and the transmission seems pretty easy to maintain. I just tighten the slipper and check the diff tension every 5 runs, and I haven't had any trouble. The stock tires are pretty soft though, so they do tend to bald pretty quickly, but overall it has been my best beater truck... Until I built my LST-Maxx electric truck.

BTW. PM me your shipping address and I'll toss a couple of those white led's in the mail for you, I've got about a million of them from my old projects.
