Thanks!

I was hoping Rainedave might have had a NC source. Good old internet ordering will have to do it appears.

George

The NC source would have had to have ordered it - yep, via the internet or telephone. What's the difference? At least this way you can save a few bucks. I know, you're thinking that the NC store source could have provided you with help, if needed. Right? Ever asked the folks at Wal-Mart or K-Mart any technical questions? We're getting old.

I wouldn't know. I haven't even been in a Walmart parking lot in over ten years.

I blended in the canopy with 30min epoxy and microballoons. When that dries I will fill the canopy with balsa filler and final sand it. I already like it a thousand times better than the plastic canopy. Funny, it took a lot less time to make and attach the balsa canopy than it did to trim, dye and attach the plastic one.

When things dry out I'll spray the primer.

Oh, so the wife does all of the shopping...<G>

I don't like plastic canopies either. I don't put little dolls in my models (pilots), so a see thru canopy isn't contributing anything but a little less weight and a lot more work.

I've never been a fan of pilot figures either, Ed. Plus, I want to paint the back of the canopy the same color as the fuse and also paint on a canopy frame similar to what oldpatflr did on his.

Have you planned out your radio and battery layout yet.
I am just starting to do this, I was wondering do you think the battery will go under the fuel tank
or in the wing saddle area? I am planning on using a Thunder Tiger .61.

John, yes, the servo rails are already in place. The battery will go just behind the wing TE. Here's the post:

Well after wondering about whether the UFO could be approved for Senior Pattern, I got the answer tonight from Mr. Walker.
It could be flown in novice class but nothing else since it was designed after the cutoff. (which I think is Dec. 31, 1975)
The UFO appeared as a building article in RCM in Sept 1977.
I was hoping that since the UFO evolved from the Kaos and Dirty Birdy it might be approved.

Well I flew my UFO yesterday, put 2 tanks through it. I am running a Thunder tiger .61 with stock muffler.
It just needed a few clicks of trim and she was flying straight. It flies very nice, I need just a little opposite aileron
for knife edge. Tracks very well. Hopefully the engine will produce more power as it breaks in. It had plenty of vertical performance
but I would like a little more. Overall I am pleased with the flight performance.

SKYHI1, the UFO that this build thread is for hasn't flown yet. JPBIII, who has posted some questions here, has flown his.

I've made a little more progress since stripping the fuselage. I've sprayed primer. Next I will fill any holes and dings, sand and spray another lighter coat of primer. Then, it should be ready to paint (again).

David,

Sorry about that, I must be doing that work thing too well again. I have obviously confused something I read.

Any way I do appreciate your efforts to make public your build thread. I have enjoyed it and learned.

Thank you
Frank
