i just picked my kit up at the post office today after work. and its killing me not to start building it!, but....i only opened the box in order to remove the instruction manual, and then taped it back up so i dont get ahead of myself. as of now im making an evening of reading, rereading, and reading some more! i will make full notes and double...no triple check that i have everything i need, and i wont start building, or doing anything to the kit contents until tomorrow.
well....i got alot of work ahead of me, so i'll check back l8r.

Andrew,
Congrats!!! You've already done the first successful step by making sure you know the instructions front and back. Good luck on the build. Keep us posted

Ken

Do yourself a favor and do an audit of all the items in the kit. I'm sure Sig puts list of all thats in the kit. It also lets you get aquainted with all the parts in the kit. I do this with every kit and it helps me to get familar with the kit.

i jus finished reading the manual, setting up my shop and checking off what items i have and dont have. now tomorrows job is to check the contents of my kit and separate the wing parts, and finally start building.l now for the tricky part........finding time during the week to build this thing.
hopefully it all goes good, i'll have pictures of my progress tomorrow.
another thing, is it a good idea to hold off on the top sheeting for the center section of the wing, so i can clamp the two ribs together better when joining the wing, or should i do it another way?

My Great Planes PT-60 had me join the wings then sheet. Others say sheet then join. I'd just follow the instructions for the kit.

andrew66,
Posting them inline usually isn't the best thing to do. For one thing it makes the page almost impossible to download the page for users with a smaller connection. Another thing is that larger pictures will "oversize" the screen from side to side. I know from my experience when I see a page that I have to use the side scroll bar at the bottom of the page just to read the text I will usually skip the page because it's too much of a pain in the rump. Uploading the pictures like you did for the first 3 is usually the best way show pictures.

well, as you can see i have the left wing almost complete! i held off on the sheeting, because i think im going to join the wing and then sheet (i think it will be slightly easier this way) and as of now im building the right wing. i think im going to take a little break for a couple hours, because i think i might be slightly high from ca fumes !
another question, how long should this build be taking me? am i going too fast? i wonder this, because everything falls into place and is generally almost perfect with minimal sanding here and there! i think if i can put in a couple hours every night during the week and at least 4-6 hours during the weekend, i will be done in no time. my hats off to sig for making a very nice kit that is complete and very easy to build. i think every begginer and experienced modeler should have this kit! its just too much fun to build!
i'll check back l8r.

Andrew,
A couple of points that concern me. I didn't see the wing pinned down to the board at all. Keeping the spars pinned down and flat is what builds the wing straight. Also, when you remove the wing from the board and then sheet it your are taking a huge risk at building a twist into the wing. Right now the wing is very fragile and won't get the rest of it's strength until you sheet the wing. I haven't seen the manual for the LT-25, but I'm pretty sure it's close to the LT-40 and most other builds of this type. The reason they have you sheet the wing while it's still pinned to the board is that way the wing will be built straight and true. My advice would be to pin the wing back to the board over the plans and sheet it properly.

Trust me, having the sheeting off of the wing won't help you in any way when it comes time to join the wing halves. Sheet the wings like instructions tell you to do, and then join the wing halves.

Hope this helps

Ken

i will sheet b4 joining, and the wing in the construction photos is pinned down, but its really hard to see the pins b/c i dont have t-pins, just reg sewing pins. and the reason i wanted to hold off on the sheeting is b/c the seniorita and senior dont require sheeting until after the wing is joined. just thought i could get away without buying bigger clamps in order to join the wings. (i only have small ones)

Andrew,
I totally understand what you are saying. I'm just pointing these out because I would hate to see a twist built into the wing.

as would i. ive slaved away pretty much all day! ive only stopped for things ive had to, and now im pretty much ready to join the wings! just a little more sanding and another quick check to see if everything is up to par and i should be along......but that'll wait until tomorrow.
getting a little exhausted and burnt out from ca fumes and whatnot. so i'll check back tomorrow.
